Good question

Substitued:

Like City in the PL, Spurs have been found out, especially by the worse teams. Good as they can be, they are one dimensional. Without the option to change their style of play and without pace out wide, teams have learned how to contain them- as Wigan/Fulham/etc showed recently. They also rely too heavily on Bale.

Barca with Bale in the future??
Not specifically, but conceptually.

Those who were at the Nextgen home game last yr saw that very
scary possibility with their team.

A Torres shot from the edge of the box goes out for a throw-in... I think. It might have gone over the stand though...

1-0 Basel!! Salah again. Looks like a quality player.

2 goals in as many minutes and Chelsea suddenly look comfortable.

Beautiful goal from Luiz. Chelsea have crushed Basel in the second half.

As I said .No trouble for Chelsea. They want to win it.Spurs were obviously using the Europa as a reserve league.
You get what you deserve!

I disagree. I think we went for it and did a good job.
I also think Basel played a lot better against us over the 2 legs than they did against Chelsea!

I disagree. The difference was experience and tactics. Spurs are less experienced in Europe than Chelsea so I feel it would have been better if you'd had the 1st leg away and 2nd leg at home. Chelsea kept the ball a lot better and kept their attacking threat to a minimum. Spurs (Parker in particular) kept on giving the ball away and allowing Basel to break. If Basel had been anywhere near as clinical as they were at the Bridge tonight I think you'd have lost the home leg.

I disagree with BS9 though. I thought you took the Europa League seriously and would still have possibly gone through had Bale been fit for the 2nd leg, at 0-2 down in the home leg most teams would have caved, showed a lot of character to come back and make it 2-2.

No, the simpler analysis is that Basel played better than you, and we played better than Basel.

Well it's a good job that football isn't quite that simple, and this basic theory doesn't determine everything. Otherwise, that means Arsenal probably the best side in Europe, as they beat Bayern 2-0. - Christ, in that case, how many goals would Arsenal put past Barca? <doh>
