There's been lots of talk in the press about next season being possiby JT's last and that a contract extension is unlikely! The same articles seem to be taking it as almost read that David Luiz will be the player taking his captain's armband ! Apart from his occasional hairy tackling I rate Luiz very highly as a player--but captain? I personally cannot see it! What think other Blues?

I can see it, seems like a good leader. He'll be no JT mind but he seems to love playing here for us and a very dominating figure on the pitch.

defo captain material. To be fair, the only one of the new players with any significant leadership qualities - and that's a bit of problem - when JT and Lamps pack their bags there will be a dearth of leadership on the pitch.

let's just agree we're lucky to have someone equally adept in CM as they are at CB. Brilliant player.

He's had his problems in defence, but those are largely behind him. I put that down simply as time taken to adapt. He's also badly mismatched for pace with JT and Cahill, and is so fast out of the blocks sometimes gaps are left. So get another quick defender to replace JT when he goes. He will always make your heart flutter in defence, but that's the price for his other attributes. He's a great reader of the game, is our best midfield play maker, and has enough zest for the whole team. And he's only 20something. A truly great signing and on the way to even better things. Hopefully he has now convinced the doubters.
