    Hello,

New member. Please be nice. Anyway I wanted your thoughts on Nacho. Think he has settled in really well but has shown some weakness defensively. I personally hoped Gibbs would be our numebr 1 for the future but with his injury record that's not possible. Has Nacho impressed you?. Is he ahead of Gibbs?

    Cheers

Yeah, I think he's done well.

Both of our leftbacks are decent but personally I prefer Nacho over Gibbs.

I prefer Nacho to Gibbs as well, for me I feel he's the more balanced player than Gibbs. But, I'm happy to see our LB for the moment seems very good, contrary to when Santos was here.

    i prefer gibbs to nacho.
they're pretty similar attacking wise, although gibbs is quicker which helps him.
also defensively nacho has made a few mistakes that have led to goals. of course its his first season, so i think he'll eliminate these next year, but atm gibbs is number 1 for me

Not sure if Gibbs is quicker than Nacho. I can't remember which game it was but I saw Nacho overhaul a fairly quick winger like he was going backwards. It has never struck me that Gibbs was that quick.

Both nacho & Gibbs are a major improvement on Santos, but neither should be any more than back ups to a better LB imo. Hopefully Nachho will improve as he gains more PL experience, but I'd rather not wait and see. Fed up with this approach and want AW to target a quality LB this Summer.

One of the tricks for internet humour is that it has to be less cryptic. Very easy to just come across as offensive. Take it from me, I know - believe me.

No humour, the OP is a ******. It wasn't meant to be offensive, just truthful.

You will regret that greeting Annabelle, it is the god-awful WUM from JA - HenryKamp.

I think Gibbs is better going forward, but he is awful positionally, so by default Nacho Monreal is the better defender. Monreal should really push on next season, he'll be settled better, and will know the style of the PL better.

After he gets the chance to have a pre-season to settle in properly, Nacho will be immense.

Monreal has pretty much started to push Alba out of the Spanish side. Difficult to know what you would refer to as "Quality" if he isn't. As far as I can see, he has only made 1 glaring mistake and that was in a game that was dead and buried by then.

No-one has been offensive or WUMish here except you Sarah. The Mods here are decent. If people are offensive or on the wind-up they'll be dealt with :) So don't you worry yourself about it.

At the moment I'd give the LB position to Gibbs, but Nacho is a worthy LB too. It's an area that we've always been strong in, but really struggled there last season with Santos and Vermaelen rotating and putting in almost equally dire performances.

Sarah and Henry_Legend, you're both welcome here, but please don't turn this board into a wummy bitch fest like JA otherwise you'll end up back over there <ok>

PISKE <ok>, I don't plan to. Fresh and better start for me. That LB slot is now covered for years to come hopefully. Just need a CB and maybe RB if Sagna will be leaving. The future looks good.

I think Nacho has done well considering that he joined us in January and therefore had no pre-season to get to know his team mates. I think he is only going to get even better next season. I am very content with our left backs.
