Anyone watching 10 O'Clock Live? If I had to slap an elderly woman, it would definitely be Janet Street Porter.

I didn't know that the strap had broken. I thought the helmet had flexed imperceptibly with the initial impact off poor old Colin Edwards Tech 3 Yamaha and slipped off. Valentino only just missed the whole thing when he took to the grass, although he glanced Colin's bike on the way through. I never want to see that happen again, but there's no denying the ultimate appeal of GP bike motorsport, and the danger is a small part of it. At its very best it is just, hands down, the most exciting form of racing.

My friend races BSB, his brother was killed doing it and he's had some real nasty offs, chopped a couple of fingers off and had a real bad one again at the last round at Thruxton. I feel for his Mother!

Ooh crikey..! Not the young starlet from a couple of years back..? Killed at Brands Hatch..? They are a different breed. I'm far too concious of injury, even though tracks are much, much safer than roads. I once had my VFR FiY at a couple of mph off its top speed [I'm not going to openly say what that is on here] on a totally empty motorway, for a short burst, and although the bike was clearly as safe as houses within itself, the immense speed meant the potential energy to go flying through the air, only to be stopped by something solid was decidedly sobering indeed. That was a one-off.

Tip of the iceberg - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22366726

I hope he sings like a canary, where did he pick up a naughty habit like that? A lot of doping was going on in Spain at the time he was playing for Barca, and the smart money was on organised doping taking place courtesy of a certain Dr Fuentes. The Spanish courts have shamefully buried the whole affair http://www.dw.de/world-sports-authorities-condemn-decision-to-destroy-fuentes-evidence/a-16783118 in recent days deciding to destroy over 100 bags of blood seized over 7 years ago without DNA matching them back to athletes, ridiculous. The Spanish have just decided the whole thing is far too embarrassing and have bottled it.

Deco could blow the lid on the whole thing if he chose to I suspect.

Horrific as a lot of these deaths are , in many ways the most tragic IMHO was Elio Due_Angeles death testing in southafrica in the 1980's .

He crashed , the car flipped over when it hit the barriers and caught fire , but there were not many rescue teams . He died from asphyxiation , the fire simply took away all the oxygen . They ( team members ) got to him , turned the car over and got him out but it was to late , there was not a single broken bone or mark on his body .

Anyone remember Martin Donnoly's crash in the lotus ?

The Telegraph confirms that its reporters have been banned from attending Newcastle United home matches and media conferences.

United had demanded an apology over a story that claimed their battle for Premier League survival was being undermined by acrimony between players.

Unusual for a Football Club to ban the Press methinks?

This is a result of a massive club being under massive pressure. If they go down it will be catastrophic for the club.
