4th May 2013 KO 12:45 Vicarage Road Stadium and Sky Sports 2 on the red button

This is the final day of the 12/13 regular season and these two teams can look back on it as a season of differing fortunes and misfortunes.

Back on the opening day of the season Watford won away at Crystal palace, and after a rocky couple of months the Hornets haven't looked back since and have been maintaining a play-off push ever since.

Leeds, however have suffered contrasting fortunes. They won their opening match but since then have been on a roller coaster up and down the middle of the table. Their poor form seemed to combine with a 1-6 defeat at the hands of the Hornets in the reverse fixture.

    Last Time Out

In their last match, Watford beat fellow promotion chasers Leicester 1-2 at the King Power stadium with a typically industrious goal from Troy Deeney and a 30-yrd wonder strike from Nathaniel Chalobah enough to seal the points for the Hornets.

In their last match, Leeds went down 1-2 to Brighton in a match which saw 3 red cards. Rudolph Austin was the first to see red as he was punished for violent conduct, with El-Hadji Diouf sent off later for supposedly making an obscene jesture to the visiting fans.

    Previous meeting

Last time out (as im sure Leeds fans will want to forget) Watford ran out winners with a sterling display, albeit against 9 men for most of the 2nd half, and ran out 1-6 winners at Elland road with goals from Vydra x2, Abdi, Murray, Yeates and Deeney. Tonge got the consolation for Leeds from the penalty spot.

    BHD'S Prediction
I have a sneaking suspicion that this game will be almost completely meaningless to Leeds, they are safe from relegation and have no chance of the play-offs. So i would expect to see some form of experimentation from Brian McDermott, with an eye on next season. Also if the appeal against Austin's sending off is not successful there will be at least two new faces from the last time out. However, Leeds are still a physical team and more than capable on their day. Watford on the other hand have every chance of that final automatic place and will be giving their all to make certain of bettering Hull's result.

I think this will be a fantastic day out for the 16,000+ fans who attend and predict that the drive and desire of the Watford players will win through leading to a 3-0 scoreline which sees Watford back in the Premiership.

    COME ON YOU 'ORNS!!

IF the dream become reality will there be a pitch invasion - not sure it would be that safe jumping over the Lower Rous wall in a rush for some!

Stunning thread Dan, and thanks for the quote. Me and Mini Bloother starting to get really excited and since Watford don't win either when Mrs Bloother is at the game, or shopping while we are at the game, she is going into self imposed exile and staying home. COYH

I have seen mention on various boards that there will be, and I can completely understand why. The last two times we were promoted it was via the play-offs, but this is a whole other beast.

When I spoke to my dad about it he said it was a stupid thing to do and apparently you can have points deducted for it, as well as it being dangerous as you never know how the other fans will react. He made it out to be the worst thing ever. Yes it may stop the player comming out for a bit, but why shouldnt we do it. Every other team does it, its just a release of the energy and the joy.

Top thread, Austins appeal was unsuccessful (did any of you see it?) McDermott has us passing it around and we could cause problems. Can't wait for it to finish and the season be over! The Leeds fans won't care about the result but should be in good spirits :)

Nice one Dan - 5*'s from me. I think we will continue our roll and take them apart 4-0.

Dan, I don't think a pitch invasion is a good idea. We should let the players and fans enjoy the moment together.

The latest news I have seen is that over 2,000 will be heading south with Leeds.

Then of course there will be Yorkie tearing up the tarmac on the M1. ;)

Thanks Dan, nice thread. I can't think of anything except Saturday at the moment. it's doing my head in, thinking of all the permutations, but at the end of the day, it's in Hull's hands. As long as we win this game we give ourselves a great chance. I have a great feeling of dread, and then i feel completely elated that we're going to do it! Meanwhile, though Leeds will want to put on a good show (a) for telly and (b) to get payback for the 1-6, i think we'll be too good for them and for just the second time this season, we'll win...3-1! Graham Salisbury is our ref...we haven't seen him since Reading at home in 2012...not sure if that's good or bad but his cards record doesn't look too bad, in fact last time he reffed Leeds he didn't give one card! Interesting. By the way, FYI, Keith Shroud is reffing the Hull v Cardiff game.

And why cant they if there is a pitch invasion? Let those who so wish invade the pitch and then leave it. Then bring out the players and families.

His record elsewhere seems ok - maybe he just doesn't like Leeds........ :)
