Rangers started brightly enough but it was Celtic who struck first blood, a defensive mistake allowed McMullen to go through in goal with the Rangers defender David Brownlie clambering over the back of the Celtic man, McMullen took a heavy touch then threw himself to the ground which fooled the ref into giving him a penalty, which he duly converted.

This spurred Rangers into action and it was only a matter of time before they scored, the superb Ryan Hardie bringing down a long through ball from Dylan Dkyes before slotting it past the helpless Celtic 'keeper.

Shortly afterwards, Junior Ogen collected a pass from the Rangers defence before skinning 3 hapless 'tic defenders then slotting home to send the Rangers fans into raptures.

2nd half saw the expected Celtic onslaught as they desperately tried to get back into this clash, but it was Rangers who looked more dangerous on the counter-attack.

A long clearance saw Hardie bringing down another long ball with the touch and grace of Zidane, he then waltzed pass the Celtic rearguard before spotting Ogen unmarked at the back post, Hardie floated in a beautiful cross which Ogen side-foot volleyed into the top corner in front of an ecstatic light-blues support.

The scoring wasn't over though and the impressive Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson played a neat ball through to McMullen who turned the Rangers defence before curling a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner to offer a crumb of hope the green and white hordes.

Celtic hit the post twice shortly afterwards, once via a wicked deflection but Rangers held out to claim their 48th Glasgow Cup win, which is another World record. <cool>
