So, it's come down to the final game of the season. It has certainly been yet another roller coaster season for us Leicester fans, but am I the only one who feels there is going to be just one more twist to the season? I know our form has been shocking in recent weeks, but we still have a chance, albeit a slim one, but we have a chance. Let's try and go out all guns blazing, win the game against Forest and just see what happens. Keep the faith I believe
I can see this being like the end to the season when we went down to League One. We'll put in a great performance and get a result at Forest but it will be in vain because Bolton will beat Blackpool. Still, would at least be a little satisfying to take Forest out of the equation too...
Given the fact we have not won in the league at the s****y ground for about 40yrs its gonna be some performance to get anything, tho it would be good to beat the red scum even if Bolton do beat Blackpool. It should never really have come down to this tho given our position earlier in the season, a pretty shambolic end to what at one point promised to be a decent season
No-one has had it easy though (except maybe Cardiff). Watford looked comfortable at one stage now it's out of their hands on final day. Hull look to have blown sizable leads on at least two occasions. Palace may not make the play-offs still after plenty of indifferent form. Brighton, Forest and Bolton have been outside the play-offs for most of the season. Look at Middlesbrough's collapse. Millwall were 8th not long ago and could go down on final day. The Championship is a cruel, unpredictable mistress. Just when you think you've got her where you want, she rogers you from behind with a strap-on. I say take it, learn to enjoy it and who knows what may happen after that. One thing I know about Leicester is that if we seem to have an easy road ahead, we usually end up wrapped around a lamppost. And just when you write us off... well you're usually right to, miracles don't happen often to us! But that's part of the deal been a Foxes fan. I'm afraid it's love it or leave it. I love it.
... all good points - although it would be fair to say that Nigel Pearson has had substantially more financial backing than most ...

Millwall beat Palace to retain Championship status on Tuesday night. Peterborough beat Palace to retain Championship status on Saturday. Will mean whoever wins the Forest v Leicester game takes the 6th playoff spot irrespective of what Bolton do
Oh i forgot to give you my pincode, its secretly hidden in this video
Pearson has or Leicester has? Pearson hasn't really spent that much, Forest, Hull Cardiff and Bolton have spend more this season and we all know how Watford are up there. I think it was clearly part of Pearson's remit to get rid of the expensive earners and bring in some value for money players. As I've said, yes we have spent but we have a great squad. It's certainly not like Nige has bought over-priced **** like Sven did or like Prozzie (although Vardy could fall into this category). But it's this "great" squad that have under-performed. Bottled it, I'd say. We've looked too nervous on too many occasions. Part of this is due to inexperience. Our squad will be older and wiser next year. Part of it is because we're not quite the finished article. Close, much closer than Sven ever got, but not quite there yet. That is work for the summer, whether it's Nige or not.
Agree completely, id agree that some of the inexperienced players have bottled it, but to be where we are after such a poor run, in such a tight league, shows what we are capable of if we can keep our form up next season.
... what I think it demonstrates more is that we have a manager who, to date, has not had the necessary managerial skills to stop a slump of mamoth proportions ... despite having all the potential that you mention ... ... and let's stop kidding ourselves - he was able to sign the (at the time) hottest scoring property in the division because of the strength of that financial backing (ask Millwall) - so let's not try and play it down ... when the relevant accounts are published we are going to have one of the highest (if not the highest) wage bills in the division and that's not just down to Sven's legacy signings ...
Im paid more a week than the Millwall players and im just above minimum wage They have a much more restrictive budget which i would assume would not go much above 10k a week, plus they would have to fork out the £2m transfer fee. Lets put it this way, Pearson is removing a useless player that is currently on loan at Huddersfield rumored to be on £25k a week, and replacing him with a very good player in Wood that is extremely unlikely to be anywhere near that amount. In the long term Wood will give us a profit. He may even be sold for a decent amount, Beckford we well haveto pay another club to take him. If we can complete removing players that were given Sven sized contracts, it probably will pay for all of Pearsons signings and bring us into a much better state with FFP: Beckford, Danns, Gallagher, Wellens, St Ledger, John Paintsil, Lee Peltier, Matthew Mills, Sol Bamba, Darius Vassell - roughly 175k p/w Chris Wood, Anthony Knockaert, Ritchie de Laet, Matty James, Ben Marshall, Danny Drinkwater, Jamie Vardy, Márkó Futács, Zak Whitbread, Wes Morgan -100k - 120k pw
If the owners want to change manager they need to consider the FFP. If they sack Nigel they will owe him Shaky and Steve Walsh compensation unless they put a clause in there saying they can sack him without compo if he didnt get us up. Even then if we want a manager in work we will then have to pay the other club compensation. It will cost the club hell of alot less by letting Nigel add to "his" squad rather then getting a new man in to build his own squad. Nigel has got incredible value in the transfer market with Wood, Drinkwater, Morgan, De Laet, Marshall and James costing roughly the same amount that Sven paid for just Matt Mills and Jermaine Beckford Add to the fact they will be on reasonable championship wages then I think Nigel has done very well there. If we can get rid of high earners like St. Ledger, Gallagher, Wellens, Beckford and Neil Danns it will put us in a better position to keep the likes of Kasper Schmeichel and Anthony Knockaert here. With us saving on wages it will also allow us to have a bigger squad next season in terms of numbers and quality. It seems stupid now to waste all of the last 18 months of work and start again. Yes we have fell short but that just means you tweak some things and go again. Not rebuild from scratch
