Not much he hasn't said before, about what it was like to arrive in England and go through the leagues and him improving his diet and fitness and so on.

One bit that is new I think is that he said when Cortese arrived he had an offer for Schneiderlin from another club, and he invited him to his office and rejected the offer with him sitting there, and told him he wanted him to be part of the club for the future. How could you dream of leaving after something like that? <laugh>
 
Also said that Cortese told him about his plans and he has delivered. Morgan then added...He told me about the next plans when I re-signed and they are great!! And he couldn't speak much English when he arrived so he only listened to TV and Music in English (are you listening, Mauricio).

  • We knew before the game, at 8am I knew I had no pressure on me. People were saying “Morgan, it’s the game of your life, what’s wrong?” but I felt no pressure, I knew we were strong.
  • Coventry had nothing to lose, but we knew that if we played 90+ of our best we would win
  • This summer, I enjoyed a few weeks but then I told myself it was time to do the right things
  • I told myself “this is my year”
  • Leading up to Manchester City, I was nervous, thinking “can we cope against them?”
  • The day before that game is the most nervous I have been all-season
  • Now a game in Premier League for me is just like Championship or League One, just another game
  • Think we lost a lot of those early games because we were thinking too much about it
  • In League One to Championship, we thought we would do well
  • In Championship to Premier League, we thought we’d be the new Swansea – but it doesn’t work like that
  • I never thought we would get relegated, but you just question yourself
  • When we lost against West Ham 4-1, we were 15 or 16 points behind them and you think “oh god” and hope we are not going to be the next Derby County with low points
  • We knew that we were better than Reading, we knew that we were better than Sunderland, how could we lose that game to them?
  • This second part of the season, we are a lot stronger
  • Before, we won some games, but we missed things
  • But now, even Wigan and United away – we showed how far we had come
  • Even last week from Swansea, they had 15 minutes at the start and 25 at the end and we would have lost that game before
  • It shows how far we have come, we did not have any experience
  • Now we all know what we need to do in certain circumstances
  • I am happy because I think I improve every single game
  • But I know I have two or three steps to progress
  • That will come with matches, I am only 23 years old and I just don’t want to stop
  • This year, ok I had a good season, but next year I want to be even better
  • For me, next year is the real time to prove myself to everyone
  • Everything Nicola promised to me happened, and if everything that he said to me when I signed my new contract happens, it will be even better
  • Big things are going to happen to Southampton in the next three years
  • Next year will be a big season for us
  • We will sign other quality players, to add to the squad
  • I am sure there are plenty of good things coming for Southampton
  • I hope we can finish top ten this season, that was our aim
  • Then next season, the next step. Finish Top 6.
  • I am sure people will say “no chance, no top six” and laugh at me
  • We have shown that even against the big teams we can do it
  • Now we need to do it against all the other teams, teams that are under us
  • We will next year
  • I like this city, I know every place
  • I say to those people, keep laughing, we will see who is laughing in the end

I had to avoid putting words in his mouth, so ended up replaying it to check.

You know, the journey we've been on as fans over the last five years, from our very lowest point to now................just imagine what its like for the players who have done that, just incredible. The loyalty shown by Morgan & Adam restores faith in the modern game. Funny how in L1 we always knew we had a special group, & they have taken us so far, & yet still have much further to go.
Good times people, good times.
 
On the BBC preview of the match, it is pointed out that two years ago we were playing Hartlepool with several players still in our present team. No wonder we got a double promotion...we were in league 1 with PL standard players!
 
I only have DTLW's transcript to go by, but that is such a brilliant interview, shows the character of both the man and the club. This is my favourite: "I say to those people, keep laughing, we will see who is laughing in the end".

Wow. I have this vision of Morgan playing in the team that secures Champions League football standing on the sidelines singing "Sha-na-na--na-na--na-na--na". You know the rest.
