Akinde - big lad at 6ft 2in, so considering Hessy likes them to hoof it over the top - can he move quicker than Bayo?
John Akinde eh interesting Well I believe he done good at Dagenham in league 1 but not for us or our rivals lol, Might be a decent player for you in League 2 that's if you're getting him or not
Local boy too coming from Gravesend. Hopefully for once this summer the trend of 'moving closer to home' will work in our favour! He has seemed a handful whenever I've seen him play. Hugely more mobile than Bayo.
Millens - I thought you might drop in, I'm not sure if this adman's personal choice/thoughts or whether he's seen something to else to suggest this. All we need now is for Rocky to let us know how he did at Wycombe.
brb Not heard anything bout this unfortunately but it's just an opinion of mine, I think the big man alongside Ashley Grimes would more than be a match for Cody and Bayo. Grimes actually had a better strike rate than Cody, he got 17 goals in 25 games at a relatively poor Lincoln side. I brought Akinde up as I seem to remember Hessy enquiring about him during the season. It would certainly lift the grey clouds that have been circling over Priestfield (sorry the MEM Priestfield stadium) lately. If Curtis Weston lifts his game and Danny Spiller gets going then they can certainly provide the ammunition for those two. Mind you we have always had a knack of unearthing decent strikers i.e. Fortune West, Taylor, Asaba, Jacko, Cody etc I believe the only time we struggled for goals was during the Jepson era
one problem i see, 12 players gone, about 6/7 in, never played together absolutely no "Gel" time as the pundits call it, can we get promoted using a bunch of strangers to us and each other????
What do you mean about the money James? I would imagine that with losing Mark Macammon (didn't see him enough to spell his name right), Bayo and Barcham off of the wage bill, we should have more than enough to pay for those two. I mean the rumour was that Mr Macammon was earning in excess of 1k a week, although obviously I can't say that with 100% certainty.
adman - some good thoughts, especially if like the GillinghamLAD say's he's more mobile than Bayo. I hate hoof ball, however, if Hessy insists on those tactics, surely he should be going for someone of your suggestion. Certainly some big grey clouds over Priestfield at the moment, apart from Martin having agreed a deal, was not a favourite of mine but people are convincing me otherwise!
when we had him on loan first time around he was quality scored something like 8 goals in six games had pace and very powerfull and i wanted us to sign him up but it didnt happen ,second time we had him on loan he wasnt fit and then got injured ,if it was up to me i would have him back at wycombe anyday.a good player in my eyes if he keeps fit and will get you goals a right powerhouse.go and get him i say
Our last set of accounts showed us making a loss of just under ã500k, that was after getting a loan of ã400k so the real loss was just under ã900k.
Grumpy - a loan would not impact the profit and loss account, only the balance sheet. Sorry to be nerdy.
Two other things: - 1. I remember Akinde making a very tidy finish against us at Wycombe around Easter time in the last promotion season. 2. I would have thought McCammon would have been on significantly more than ã1k per week.
I have Akinde, Grimes and Scott McGleash on my list. Have been thinking about all 3 since last thursday.
what ever he was on he wasnt earning it thats for sure and we know it was a lot. i know mccammons time here was injury hit but he never showed the promise and spark that was there the first few games he played for us. i honestly thought we'd found jacko a perfect partner to begin with but i had to eat my words. as for akinde im sure we could do a heck of a lot worse (not mentioning any names again), he always seems to have been a decent league 2 player who has maybe struggled to move up a division as it was never with the same side
