For the past few days I've been scanning press articles featuring the Special One saying things like " when I return to Chelsea I will be bringing so and so with me" and " I'll will need more attacking options"
Has this deal already been done? If so why has it not been splashed all over the front pages?
 
Difficult to say, but I wouldn't be suprised. Maybe, for once, we're trying hard to keep our business private so as not to disrupt the team and this crucial part of the season?

Not trying to be contraversial, but am I the only one that is not 100% conviced that Jose is the best long-term solution for Chelsea? Sure, he'll bring us back to winning ways, make us very difficult to beat, rally the supporters in the old "us vs. the world" but......is this just another short-term fix?

I think he is a great manager, but will the returning impact be as impressive as when he first came in? Will he bring back and play some of the new, young incredible talent that we have bubbling (Courtious, De Bruyne, Lukaku etc.) or will he just use what we have and make a load of purchases? Will he and Roman have continuous spats about who runs the club, disrupting the team?

To me, Jose appears like a 2-3 year (max) whirlwind, that will come in, shake up, buy players, then move on. I want a manager that will be successful over a consistently long period of time, bringing players through the youth operation and staying with the club for many years to come. I'm not saying I have the ideal solution to this problem, but wonder if Jose is really the answer.

I think he has unfinished business and would love another crack at trying to win th CL with us

I know its the Mail, but the article does address several areas of contention.

1) Robben would be a good fit on the RHS. He is more mature now and is a true game changer. Paired with Hazard LM, this allows both Oscar and Mata free reign in CM where they are at their most destructive.
2) Gomez, IMO, is a safer bet for a proven striker. We do not want to go down the route of another £50m signing. Our midfield have shown that they create plenty of chances, all that is needed is a lethal striker.

Hazard-Mata-Oscar-Robben

Luiz/Ramires/Mikel

Good strong balance there!
 
I feel a bit the same as Crocarno, but the job here unfortunately has become less exciting to top drawer managers after the frequency of P45's being issued!

No, you're not the only one! In fact I've been harking about this for ages for exactly the reasons you give.

Additionally, leaving out development of team aside, the fact is that Germany are ascendant, and the English PL is third in Europe. For all his genius he is unlikely to be able drag us to the top of Europe again. He hasn't done so with all the talent at Real Madrid and if the past two CL seasons are anything to go by,there is nothing to suggest he will be able to build a team to match the work ethic and team-spirit of the likes of Munich and Dortmund. Surprising, as that has always been the primary hallmarks of all Jose Mourinho teams.

There are a lot of fans on this site and others that see him as some kind of messiah, but I'm simply not going to allow myself to be so naive and build up that kind of expectation. If it works out and he returns us to the English and European powerhouse we were in the mid 00s then hooray everyone's happy, but if his second coming is a relatively damp squib (as I expect), then at least the disappointment won't be as hard to take.

Best I will hope for is that he will be able to restore our expected points tally to c85

Understand where you are coming from and your concerns. Jose rarely stays at any Club more than a couple of years now, and still seems fixated on big name players. He certainly gets results, but long term???? Not sure either.
However Abramovich won't keep managers long term anyway, so were buggered either way if we're looking for steady rebuilding. My tip, lie back and enjoy it anyway.
 
Sorry but anybody who thinks Mourinho would be a bad choice needs their head testing. Madrid are a different beast and contain the biggest egos on the planet, they're a side of individuals, not a team. Jose has history with us, unfinished business and we're a club who he holds close to his heart with many of our big egos holding him in their highest esteem. Had Roman not been a stubborn git I'm confident he'd still be at the realm now.

As for the long term side of things, he's still a young manager. He's jumped from club to club to prove his worth and that worth has certainly been proven. As long as he has control of transfers I can see him being here for a while.

I'd rather have Jose for a couple of years than not at all. Long term doesn't seem to apply to any job these days anyway, with players and managers swapping and changing all the time anyway its like bloody musical chairs

I do still think its dependent on our position at the end of the season though, and Rafa seems to not give a **** on that score, so to think he could be the deciding factor on whether we get Jose or not is a scary thought

Not saying he'd be a bad choice, I'm say it's extremely naive to expect the same kind of impact second time around, especially given how football has moved on. Even more naive to expect him to be around for any length of time. These messiah signings tend to be more predicated on hope, or nostalgia, or some combination of both, with cold logic often playing second fiddle. There are many reasons why a José return may not work out as we might hope but many people seem to bury their heads in the sand when his name is mentioned - the fact that he has an emotional connection with Chelsea says absolutely nothing as to how effective he would actually be and highlights my case in point.

Additionally, I won't accept Real are fundamentally a team of 'individuals' any more or less than the next team - they are a team of human beings first, footballers second, and like any other bunch, its up to the manager to mould these into a team. If they played more as individuals, i'd certainly argue that's because the manager has not fulfilled his primary role as effectively.

But then again, if I'm proved wrong then great, that means the club are doing well. But I'm absolutely not jumping on a mourinho bandwagon - that would certainly require head examining.
