I am actually ..... I'd like to know who would have beaten us this season And also we have been keeping a close eye on the top 7 or 8 clubs for so long that I'm getting quite fond of them And I'm hoping Posh survive too .....and it has nothing to do with nurses
Hopefully Leicester will beat Watford on Friday and put Hull up - that would do for me. As for the playoff winners, Watford would be my preferred choice if only for their manager - can't help liking Zola. As for Hollowhead, Davies and Freedman, they aren't my cup of tea even though I find Hollowhead one of the more interesting of his kind. Brighton is a smart outside bet, but a Leicester win against Watford could lift them enough to pip the lot of them at the post. Looking forward to it? I'm just looking forward to not being in it...........
I shall be an impassive observer. Let others sweat and be disappointed. I bet a few of our players will be looking forward to some time off as well.
I worry about the playoff's in the Championship this year for the following reason. If Barnsley beat Hull and Watford win, that will leave an all or feck all situation for Hull on the last day of the season. We all know MM still has great affection for Watfraud and if this scenario does indeed pan out, he will definitely send out a team to go for the throat, so what should be a day of celebration for both clubs could turn out to be something completely different. Personally I hope Brighton get promoted via the playoff's.
I think Brighton could go up through the play-offs, so far besides us they are the only team to have lost under 10 games and after that mullering of Blackpool they will be up for it.
The top three clubs deserve it most. To be second now with two games to go and miss out is worse than we ever suffered. Watford have been our threat for so long as they were third, least we can do is hope they go up too. It is ultra strange being promoted already and now champions sitting back relaxing. So this is how it feels to actually do it at last. jck
Conference Play offs, first legs, Wrexham 2 - 1 home winners v. Kidderminster last night and Newport won 1 - 0 away at Grimsby tonight. Could it be an all Welsh Final and guaranteed third Welsh team in main leagues next season?
Playoff threads are sooooo last season..... From a selfish point of view I'd like to see Palace promoted. They're **** and definitely losing their best player so would be instant relegation favs. One spot gone, 2 to fill. Brighton, Watford, Leicester have the backing to have a real chance. Hopefully Bolton will be struggling to make it after Saturday. I can't argue that Watford desevre it most, but when has that ever mattered in the playoffs.
It is strange, the play offs are where you want to be if you miss out on auto and the last place you want to be. jck
I did say if you miss out on autos like Bristol then you want to be in the play offs...i never thought of relegation as auto lol. jck
The current playoff system effectively extends the season - if it wasn't in place, a lot of clubs without a mathematical chance to catch the top 3 would lose interest. Up till last weekend, even Millwall down in 16th spot could still have snatched a playoff spot (however unlikely), and now could easily go down just a week later. There is a very good argument that the team finishing third over a 46 game season should go up automatically, but it would kill the hopes of some clubs who hang on to the belief that they might, just might, snatch a coveted playoff slot for a chance of the big time. It's still there with just two games to go. If it was an auto for the third spot, Bolton, Leicester and Forest would be out of it, and even bloody Brum in tenth still have a mathematical chance!
For this season ONLY I would like to suspend the play off system and have 3 go up automatically No, really I think the play offs create a lot of interest up to the very end of the season and to be honest you know at the start what you have to do. I accept that if we fail to get into second spot it is good that we drop to a 25% chance - like yourselves we have wasted a lot of opportunities to gain points in recent weeks and only have ourselves to blame if we have to qualify through the play offs - you had enough points in the bag to protect you against a late hiccup or two
