I was thinking to myself what southampton might set their eyes on next season.... maybe an europa league spot? i know its most probably to be aiming for that but then again why shouldnt we aim for it? i think with how the club is set up at the moment theres nothing to stop us from striving for it... we might need a few new players but apart from that i think we're ready to go....

I think it is pretty easy to state our goals for this season and any other season....
to win every game and to have a good enough (large enough) squad to achieve this no matter how many games we play, by playing attractive/entertaining football.

I think that's the philosophy of both Pochettino and Cortese.

We have seen in the last two games German teams playing a similar style to us (but with a more physical approach) destroy the pretty football of the Spanish teams, esp Barcelona. The way they pressed the ball and got men forward in support was brilliant to watch. The main difference is they are more direct around the goal and more clinical than us. Rickie has now been converted to supplyer and JRod will get better, but our team has goals in it and the defence is getting better so I would love a top 8 finish.

I am gutted that the Germans' time has come. Not because I dislike German teams or football, but because I remember the last time their time came, and the fact it's back again and skipped England yet again, is just a sign that we're not ever going to see any international success! Will be Argentina's and Belgium's turns soon.

    But otherwise, good on them!
