Does their relegation now make pompey the lowest ranked team in English football to have previously won the FA Cup ? if not, who is it and where are they ?

Well I don't know if AFC Wimbledon counts as they reformed after their famous cup win.

I think they're the lowest. Doesn't the Wimbledon cup win count as MK Dons'? Other than that it depends if Bradford get promoted or not

    Oxford University A.F.C.

Founded in 1872, won the FA Cup in 1874, still exist today.

Yeah I don't know if it's actually Oxford University but I imagine a few of the early FA Cup winners are very low down the leagues, if they still exist at all.

The same Oxford University team that won the cup never stopped existing, though it seems they don't participate in the English football league system now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford_University_A.F.C.

The other early winners, like Wanderers FC, Royal Engineers, and so on, all seem to have dissolved.

Fair enough. I thought Royal Engineers would be an army team and were therefore likely to have existed continuously.

I imagine that Old Etonians FC still exist as well?

Royal Engineers do appear to still exist, as do Old Etonians and Old Carthusians, but as far as I can tell none of them are part of the football pyramid any more.

The only one you could argue play at a lower level than Porstmouth is Wanderers FC: it was dissolved in 1887 but reformed in 2009, and they currently play in what appears to be the 17th level of the football league system.
