That's damage limitation PR. I doubt the powers that be across the pond have even seen the incident yet. If the club defend him to the hilt they are bound to incur the wrath of the FA. I can't see him getting less than a 6-8 game ban. They will not want to be seen as weaker than the Dutch FA who gave him seven, (which doesn't seem to have been enough, as he is still at it.) Starting next season without him, for maybe 4-5 games, instantly puts them on the back foot. The lack of any European football again means they will not be able to sign somebody of similar quality, so their options are somewhat limited. Ayre's statement is the equivalent of the players wearing T-shirts with Suarez name on them, an empty gesture that will be quietly forgotten in a "fee undisclosed" transfer in the summer. Suarez is a good footballer but he is a brand or PR managers nightmare and for better or worse, they are the sort of people who have a huge say in football these days.

Also, the last thing you want to say, if you are selling something, is that you don't want it anymore. You talk up your need for it and say how indispensable it is to you. If you say it is no use to you, that will drive the price into the basement. He is a dead man walking.

You couldn't be more wrong. Local Boston press have been all over it. They were disgusted by the Evra incident and Boston Sox supporters made it clear they should give up Liverpool. They didn't. Boston Red Sox haveing sold out over 700 games in a row haven't managed a sellout this season despite doing well. Oh yes,they know about it alright.

Unfortunately, I don't think they'll have any trouble finding buyers if they do decide to sell. Despite all his baggage, he does score goals.

As I said earlier, financial considerations will be uppermost in Henry's thoughts. Also, anger management sounds very American - I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Its a cynical business and buyers won't be hard to find. Anger management is all very well but we all know he it's only a matter of time before he screws up again. Henry must be considering every option.

In that case he is toast.

I think he'll be gone this summer. Liverpool have to say they want him to stay to keep the price up but Henry and Co really don't like the publicity they get over LFC.

See they charged the little scum bag and want more than 3 games. About 12 would be right.

If it looks like it will affect Henry's overall business, the yes, he wil have to go..

Sincerely doubt Suarez had anything to do with the donation thing... PR, plain as daylight.

Suarez issued a swift apology following the conclusion of the game at Anfield on Sunday and also spoke to the Serbia international.

"I've spoken to Ivanovic on the phone so I could apologise directly to him," Suarez tweeted. "Thanks for accepting."

He also tweeted: "For my unacceptable behaviour the club has fined me.

"I have asked the club to donate the money to the Hillsborough Family Support Group for the inconvenience I have created to the Liverpool fans and to Ivanovic." Wrong Reverend.[/QUOTE]

I've seen all of that.

Sincerely doubt he did any of it by himself. The language even is of a much higher standard than usual.

It's interesting and refreshing to hear that almost every Mouser has condemned Suarez, with many saying that enough is enough and that the club should get rid of him, regardless of his importance to their team. They fully recognise that the damage he is doing to 'Pool's reputation simply is not worth whatever it is he brings the the field of play.

I remember when Defoe "nibbled" that West Ham player, all of us agreed he was a complete twat, but we accepted that it had been completely out of character for Defoe to react in that manner, and to be fair to him he hasn't courted any controversy since that incident. The difference with Suarez is that he joined 'Pool with the reputation for being a complete and utter twat, and his behaviour since then has done nothing other than to confirm the fact that this particular twat really cannot change his spots.

In any other walk of life, idiots who act like Suarez get the sack, with no references, and with their reputations ruined they find it extremely difficult to regain employment at any level near that formerly enjoyed. The same rule ought to apply to footballers, but because clubs have £millions invested in them, the players get away with it.

I hope 'Pool put the buck-toothed git on the transfer list, and let him go to the first club that offers a half-decent price, even if it means them making a loss on their investment. Better that than to continue the international humiliation of employing him, and ruining what little dignity the club still retains.

Well said, HIAG - especially putting any comparison with the Defoe incident in context. <ok>

However, checking some of the threads on their board, I am not sure that the reality of the situation has really sunk in yet as they are still deluding themselves that a 3 match ban would be appropriate......

most of the media,seem to think about 10 games

Years ago, my dog bit the postman. I got dragged into the magistrates court, given a control order, and warned that the dog would have to be put down if it did it again. Well Suarez has bitten people twice now, so the answer seems obvious!..:D

People who are deemed indispensable to their companies rarely get the sack, surely all the fat bankers & investment managers still in their jobs should tell you that

Actually every poster I have seen has said 4-8 would be appropriate.

It never ends. FFS now you're defending him for this too. You're a disgrace.

It is going to be an interesting one for the FA

Racism = 8 matches
Biting = ?

I think we would all agree which is worse

I dunno. Which is worse? Both are pretty bad.
With the amount of damage done i'd say racism might be worse.
A career ending tackle would typically get 3 games though, and i'd say that is worse than racism, so i'm not sure logic applies when the FA dish out punishment
