Chelsea fan here.

I don't blame Suarez at all. At the time I called him vermin (but that was knee jerk). Suarez is just a red herring for the bigger issue which is the incompetence of refereeing and the FA in this country.

In life you will only do as much as you can get away with. Ivanovic will play football again this season after a bite to the arm, I'm not sure the same could have been said for Massadio Haïdara, David Luiz (last weekend) or Ryan Bertrand/Kyle Walker today.

Suarez is a top quality footballer but comes with baggage, nonetheless I think the poll is too knee jerked.

You don't blame Suarez at all? who's fault was it l then?

Your sycophantic & sickly, arse licking of the Kopites seemingly has no bounds!

He got 7 match ban for the first time he did this (in Holland, I know, but still relevant to his professional in game behaviour) - I think as he has significant "previous" that 10-12 is more likely.

Since when do the regulations of another football association apply here?

Ivanovic will be ok. Suarez will get three games. Would people have reacted as badly if it'd been a two-footed lunge? Sturridge will get away with his high tackle on Bertrand. Same as Defoe getting away with it years ago.

Total knee-jerk reaction from our forum and the media.

You are aware he bit him off the ball aren't you?? It was a disgusting thing to do, hence the reaction it has sparked.

They don't but our FA are fully aware of the punishment handed out & won't want to be see to be a soft touch in comparison, so he's still ****ed

Just back from the game... As an away fan we were at the opposite end of the ground so no one had a clue what had happened until afterwards. What a disgraceful and disgusting thing to do. ****ing horrible scumbag.. I'm sorry but it's unacceptable and the FA had better ban him for a long time! However knowing them they'll claim the ref saw it and that they can't make retrospective action! <laugh>

That is definitely the least likely predicted outcome. You do realise this is Luis Suarez?- known racist, murderer, cannibal, terrorist, enemy of the state? He'll get the book thrown at him...

... and rightly so (on this occasion)

These players never played for their clubs again after these instances and Brendan needs to be a man just like Fergie and Wenger were when the hard questions were asked.

Get a ****ing grip people saying get rid of Suarez , he's probably the third best player in the world right now behind Messi and gay Ronaldo.

He's our best player by a billion country miles. ffs get rid of him , bye Suarez <doh>

Every genius has a kink, that's just life.

Yeah but they've also put themselves in a corner politically. More than Terry's 4 games and they are saying racism is not as important as biting.

From LFC website.

The only thing he and club could do was admit to it and issue an apology. Guess just sit and wait to see what kind of punishment he is given now.

Liverpool Football Club has the following response to the incident that occurred during today's game at Anfield:

Luis Suarez said: "I am deeply sorry for my inexcusable behaviour earlier today during our match against Chelsea.

"I have issued an apology and have tried to contact Branislav Ivanović to speak to him personally. I apologise also to my manager, playing colleagues and everyone at Liverpool Football Club for letting them down."

The club's managing director Ian Ayre commented: "Luis has made an unreserved apology for his actions today.

"His behaviour is not befitting of any player wearing a Liverpool shirt and Luis is aware that he has let himself and everyone associated with the club down. We will deal with the matter internally and await any action from the FA."

Brendan Rodgers added: "Having reviewed the video footage and spoken to Luis, his behaviour is unacceptable and I have made him aware of this."

Just for some contrast:

Defoe felt his actions had been "blown out of all proportion".

"The referee was standing over me and if he felt I had done something bad he would have sent me off," said the 24-year-old.

"It doesn't look great on TV and I accept that I have a responsibility to conduct myself in the right way.

"When the West Ham player fouled me, I reacted in a bit of a mischievous way - my character is a little like that at times."

Spurs boss Martin Jol described Defoe's bite as a "comical nibble".

"He was nibbling his arm - there will be no mark. Ask Mascherano if he has got a mark," said Jol.

"It is part of the game. They kicked him three times from behind in 10 minutes and he wanted to show his frustration in a nice, comical way."

Much better than the PR disaster from the Evra affair. Let's see what the FA has to say now and let's see what the summer brings.

I deserve a slap then......

A good old fashioned stamp, or a good tear up - reminds me of the good old football days.

But biting people, animals ****ing bite.
