So Arsenal deserve it more than us because of the ludicrous ref decisions against Norwich, or two of their victories coming against 10 men, or the penalties won by diving?
So Chelski deserve it more than us by not having to conform to any normal standard of business practice or accounting?
So Man$ deserve it more than us for exactly the same reason?

From a purely football point of view you tend to get what you deserve, were looking at it from a team point of view not a club point of view. I think BS was trying to say if Spurs do not perform to a better standard than in previous weeks then you will not merit finishing above the other 2 London clubs. I could be wrong but just a guess

That's just another way of saying swings and roundabouts, DL. It's utter bollocks.
Some clubs benefit more than others from dubious refereeing decisions and it doesn't even itself out. There's no reason why it should.

I agree but Arsenal didn't benefit from refereeing decisions yesterday, if anything they were unlucky.

I just think over a 38 game season you finish (roughly) where you deserve to. You only need to look at the kind of refereeing decisions that eliminated Chelsea in the CL in every year from 2005-2011 to see that PNP is right but surely over 38 games that is a more accurate reflection of "deserving" to finish somewhere. Smithy I think you've opened up a can of worms <laugh>

I'd agree with the first part, but not the second.
Sidwell deserved to go, but we've all seen far worse tackles receive far more lenient decisions, especially when it's the home side in question.
Giroud's dismissal was ludicrous, but it had no impact on the result and was unlikely to have any at that late stage. Can't see him being suspended.

When the league's as tight as it is, then I disagree. We've all seen results swing completely on the basis of poor officialdom.

They did benefit, Sidwell was sent off.

And before you say it, PNP wasn't talking about incorrect decisions necessarily. If you want comparisons, Bale was booked for diving against Sunderland when he was fouled in the area, Cazorla got his penalty for a dive and Arsenal have had plenty this season and whether you can justify them or not, some have been soft, it's not through a lack of penalty shouts we haven't had one. It's not being bitter, I'm not saying certain clubs are the only ones that gets decisions but it's clear that certain clubs tend to get more decisions from refs, I know you understand that because you say the same about United but guess what, it's not just them there are other (mostly) bigger clubs that refs find it easier to give decisions to.

Quite right YV. There's no point saying that things tend to even themselves out over 38 games when (1) they clearly don't and (2) the margins are only one or two points. Refs account for far more than one or two points difference, and they don't assign their wrong decisions evenly!

Watching the replay on MOTD, you can see why the ref gave it. His foot was over the top of the ball. Whatever his intention, the Referee obviously saw that and decided it was reckless..

The Giroud dismissal? Yeah, I can understand how the ref misinterpreted it, especially as Giroud holds his hands up in apology afterwards, but I don't even think that it's a tackle.
He goes to try and control the ball and cut it back, misjudges it and slips over the top of the ball, colliding with Manolev(?) who makes the most of it.
It's clumsy and the previous red probably contributed to the ref's mindset at the time, but it's not even a yellow, in my opinion.

Even more interesting was that Wenger offered no excuses in his interview. So, it looks as if they won't bother to appeal. If the referee interpreted it as reckless, then he has no real defence.

But you beat Sunderland didn't you? And didn't you win the game Bale was suspended for? Just seen the Nasri challenge and it was a shocker, should definitely have seen red, not sure how an official (at least) didn't spot it. I can relate to the penalties think a but purely because Hazard had about 3-4 not given from August-December when all of them were stonewall. The flair players are wrongly adjudged to have dived whereas the lanky/well built players seem to get them easily (Giroud, Crouch etc)
