I remember a little while ago, he claimed that he was offered a truce period of 45 days or something and he'd be allowed back if he didn't try to return in that period. Was he really too stupid to just accept that?

I can't believe he hasn't tried hiding his IP yet.

Apparently so. <laugh>

It was 30 days and he couldn't manage it. IIRC, we also gave the same terms to GoMarchingIn [aka Barry Sanchez on TSW] and he couldn't hack it either. :)

Has brb been doing some sterling work, on the quiet..?

30 days, wow, that's an impressive lack of self restraint. Frankly, as far as GMI goes, I think the way the general mood of the place lifted when he left tells the whole story. As for Banana, as fun as political lunacy and conspiracy theories are, we can live without!

Again, IIRC, during the to-ing and fro-ing we asked Adam to stay away while we decided the terms of his ban. He agreed and promptly signed back on. :) GMI was similar in his lack of respect for the forum. We really tried to find a balance of getting them to be less offensive to posters and to keep them as members, but they could only see things their way. GMI, in particular used to agree to everything and go away and offend someone straight away. :)

GMI is no different over on TSW. Regularly causing arguments and name-calling.

He finds support over there from some fellow doom-mongerers though.

Ha, amazing. With GMI, I had to admire his abilities sometimes, he'd find just the right way of driving people insane without actually breaking any rules (for the most part), it's an impressive talent.

Yes, on the whole, I'm glad he gave up and stayed away.

Indeed, we realised he was the personification of a very clever WUM. What we couldn't fathom is why he would do it with the fans of the club he supports. In the end, we decided it didn't matter, and that although he bent rules and hardly ever broke them, he was actually diminishing the pleasure for long established members so much that we decided he couldn't stay unless he changed his tune. He couldn't. He went.

Honestly, I don't think he fit the definition of a "WUM". He clearly enjoyed getting into arguments, but I believe his stupid opinions were honestly held. I don't think he ever pretended to have a stupid opinion just to wind people up.

Very hard to disagree with that. I went through a long period of wondering whether he actually was a Southampton fan, or if he was Ming/another Portsmouth fan just trying to cause in-house tension, but he knows so much about Southampton that he's got to be either a Saints fan or far too committed. No idea why he was so desperate.

Hmm, perhaps you wouldn't write that if you read some of our exchanges with him, where he was utterly reasonable. What he would do is write his opinions in such an extreme and inflammatory way that posters would gasp at his viewpoint. Often, his true view was little different to others around him, but he knew how to gather attention. However, what was deliriously enjoyable for him was often really upsetting for others. And this in an era of wall-to-wall enjoyment for Saints fans.

He loved being the centre of attention.
