I think Morison will come good, let's not forget ****er signed an unfit player who had barely played and then tried to get him to replace Bacchio straight away. I think, under McDermott, Morison will do a lot better next season. Not entirely unsurprised Becchio has struggled with the step up, although has he even played?

He's had the occasional cameo apperance, but looked totally lost I'm afraid.
How is Adam Drury doing? Last I heard he was injured again!

I'm willing to trust CH on this, as he has seen far more of KK than we have. Having already invested 8.5m rising to 10m in RvW, there isn't much to spend on strikers next year if we are to strengthen AM, DM, LB (Garrido and another) and defence as well. Also, unless the service is there, no striker is going to succeed in the PL. On that basis, I'm in the yes camp, Carrabuh.

He has definite qualities, but also huge deficiencies. My feeling is he needs a manager who can work on his weaknesses and games in which he can learn to overcome these, and that's a luxury we can't afford if we stay up - the Premier League is too unforgiving. If we go down, he might be an option. He doesn't seem smart enough for the Prem, but I think he might do very well in the hustle-bustle of the Championship.

As for Becchio, how do people know? He's played so little it's unfair to judge him. When he has played I don't see how he has been any worse than any of the other forwards. As others have said, so far I really don't understand why he is there unless it was just to offload Morisson.

The odd times he's played he spends the whole time with his back to their goal. He was more effective at Leeds when played running forwards in on goal - with feet or head. I don't recall a single chance he's had under Hughton to break through on goal?

    1. Why should fans trust CH on this issue? many folk do the same, but managers make mistakes. 2 interesting point to consider how much money will be allocated to strengthen the team, 3. not sure about the relevance of the service, it's relatively straightforward to judge the quality of a player just by their touch and control, and he seems a little lacking in these areas.

My "main" issue with KK is either his consistent lack of fitness or stamina. He has had plenty of training and game time since his arrival (more than he would get in an "off-season") so why is he burnt out after 60 minutes or so? Is the physical nature of the English game just too demanding for him?

Well I'm in the yes camp, I trust Chris Hughton, and of course service is relevant otherwise chances are limited! Not even Dixie Dean converted every chance!

The point being made is you can judge a player's quality regardless of service, that should be pretty obvious to anyone, it's not just about chances. He's not made runs when there has been service, or at least there would have been if had a football place to make sure he is the right place. He's not a goal poacher (if he were, why would we sign him, given that's not the style of play this season)

Mind you, if KK scores a hat-trick today and doesn't give away another stupid penalty, he can have whatever he wants.

My point Longsight, is that CH sees him every day in practice as well as in games. Are you suggesting that it should be the fans rather than the manager who decide who stays and who goes? Every player CH has brought in has performed well, IMO, though we need to see more of Butterfield and Becchio. To judge a player on 8 games, including as sub, seems premature. I seem to recall similar doubts about Ruddy and other new players after their early games. If he hadn't come on against Everton, we'd have lost that game, IMO, and now would be one point above relegation. My point about service had to do with spending money on an AM before another striker, to improve the service to those we have. I think RvW will be our main striker, but KK could still have a role to play both up front and on the wing.

Fair and reasonable comment but what are your thoughts on his stamina (an issue as I see it). I will call it stamina as I believe it is more a stamina than fitness thing.

I'm not sure how you judge the difference, Thai. KK came into a mid-season situation from the off-season in the US. This seems something CH will be able to judge. I've just watched his press conference and CH says that the decision will be made when it has to, not now. That's right, IMO. I would still like to see us focusing on strengthening the 5 other areas of the team before bringing in another striker.
