It really makes no difference who the next manager is, because unless and until there is a REAL change at the top, we will go on as before.
Abramovich and his useless Board, Buck and Gourley, DO get success despite the huge waste of money,players careers' and Managers. And it doesn't seem to matter if we have a "good" manager in place, or a poor one, the results are much the same.
We have had arguably, 3 or 4 top class managers who fell out with the Gods, and left for a life of wealth and lower stress levels, and mostly, success elsewhere.
Meanwhile , for the 6th or 7th straight year, we are still after those elusive one or two "key" players to take our team up that last difficult step to true greatness.
Forget it, it will never happen. Each "new" manager wants to chop and change, and so we never get stability nor grow the team, it's always kick, bollock, scramble.
So, I await the announcement with anticipation of short term change, but long term, the same old same old. It's what happens when you support CFC.
 
Mourhino would be a disaster at your club. I don't care what bull5hit excuses they come up with for he and Mad Dog patching up their differences, there are simply too many burnt bridges to cross. Yes, Mourhino now has the kudos and would have absolutely no difficulties in telling the Russian exactly what he wants and what he expects to get by way of board-room support, but I cannot imagine that the Russian is the kind of man to be dictated to. Somewhere along the line things would turn ugly again, and that cannot be in the long-term interests of your club.

Whoever it is will be very much money orientated, because it's pretty much a dead cert they'll last 1 or 2 seasons max then get a big pay-off. You can't blame someone for wanting that, as I'd happily take the job!

If we're all completely honest it's probably the most unmotivated job in football.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing who your next manager will be - and whether they make the rich list in a couple of years time (max).

The last managers have got small payoffs that ended when they got a new job such as the tea boy at spurs

That bears no relation to your post, you say there's 'no way Mourinho is returning' and your reasoning is because you think he and Roman won't get on again? No sense.

I agree with CP in that there needs to be changes either side of Roman but we have to remember ultimately Roman is the one who pulls the trigger! We need a respected manager and preferably one with bags of experience. Which is why Mourinho/Hiddink would be perfect. Zola too, however as been pointed out I don't think anyone could bear to see him treated like dirt. In saying that, I genuinely think AVB would've come good had he not tried to change things as quickly as he did.

Agree completely Drogs, those monstering AVB are misguided I think. He's a very good manager, which he has shown before and after us. It all went pear shaped with us, and I don't think we will ever get to the bottom of it. He claims he was instructed to put the broom through the squad, then not backed up when the "Old Guard" went petulant, Management says he tried too much too soon.
Take your pick. He's still a bloody good manager , has done a great job with a mediocre Spuds, and will get better and better.
Jose can take care of himself and we need him more than he needs us. Zola, my personal all time favourite player and person, would be a lamb to the slaughter with our madmen, and should stay well clear for the time being.
 
Sometimes people do learn from their mistakes, and RA must realise he is not in the position now that he was when he and JM parted company and he had a lot more choices of managers, even he must realize that he now has to stop all this crap and get our club sorted before things go drastically wrong. They are both strong minded men but also both know what they want, so perhaps a little bending each way may happen yet.

That is correct. I don't believe they will get on. The Russian doesn't appear to be able to get on with any manager that he's appointed. Something always seems to go wrong.

If (and I really do believe it is a big "if") Mourhino does rejoin your club, all the differences that existed between he and the Russian will be merely patched over, they will not disappear; and they will reappear with a vengeance sooner or later, long before Mourhino completes his contract.

There is absolutely no contradiction in my argument.

There is absolutely no sense in your argument and it would seem that swallowing all the tonk on your trip to Soho seems to have addled what brains you ever had.

I didn't say there was a contradiction, just no relation. You thinking they would not get on does have any bearing on whether he gets the job or not.

Possibly.

However, my thinking is that he'll be extremely loathe to take the job for the reasons that (a) he knows, first hand, just how mad the Russian is, and (b) the personnel who have been and gone since he was last with you will amply demonstrate that that particular leopard has not changed its spots, and probably never will.
