Came across this and think it would be amazing if the Northam started something like this!!! Will never happen though... :(

Would make coming to St Mary's intimidating and be fun to do.

Don't like this. It seems aggressive and unpleasant. It's just a game, remember?

Banter during the game is fine but obvious intimidation and aggression like this isn't to me. It's unnecessary.

I admire the organisation and effort that European football supporters put into supporting and chanting for their clubs. However, it just isn't British. We are too self-critical and too eager to take the piss out of others for any ideas to be met with any enthusiasm...

"Guys, let's all congregate on Poundtree Road, Gavin you bring the megaphone, and Steve, you bring the massive flag. Oh, and remember everyone to wear red and white. Now, if you can't remember the words to Chumbawumba, I've printed out several thousand copies..."

If i must ..... :cheesy:

What a crass, ignorant comment.

Totally agree with you pass the football. This comment is quite simply appalling. If there was such a generalised comment made about any other nationality than the German's then it would be seen as borderline Racism, but because its about 'the bloody Germans' its seen as acceptable, it's not.

I'm sure it can't be racist unless like Hitler you consider them a different race?

It would be amazing if the atmosphere at St Mary's was as good as in Signal Iduna Park. The flags are awesome. Not so much this video though, bit weird!

Sounded like they were shouting AROO AROO from 300 aka this is SPARTA. Preparing for war.

What a crass, ignorant comment.

So neither of you know **** all about history.

What is crass about this thread is that someone actually thought this was behaviour worth imitating.

Now that is crass.

It's obviously designed to intimidate, and doesn't sit well with any family club image so I wouldn't want to see it at Saint Marys. The British just don't do organised crowds like the Germans do, we tend to be a huge mob of individuals who don't like being led by anybody.

St Godders, I can imagine that a large disciplined crowd of Germans chanting would resonate with anybody that experienced WWII, however I think you may be being slightly harsh with some posters on here, simply because an large percentage of the population don't know a great deal about 20th century history and ignorance has to be forgiven - I say slightly harsh because I agree with you to a large extent, I just wouldn't have put it quite as plainly

Sorry guys, I don't care if you did live through the war, it is disgusting to compare a crowd of German football fans to the Hitler Youth.

If the people in the video were English, would you still have compared them to the Hitler Youth?

That's a genuine question, as the intent behind the comment is what's important.

As it happens I am studying history at the University of Greenwich and I am in my first year. Would it be acceptable to say 'They look like a bunch of curry house owners' or something along them lines about a group of people originating from India? Answer, no it wouldn't and would be largely condemned. People seem to think it is acceptable to do the same to the Germans though. I distinctly recall Bacon face referring to somebody cheating as a typical German, now could you imagine if somebody had said of Ashley Young 'Typical black man'. Prejudice of any race or ethnicity or nationality is not acceptable.

Large ignorance on your part to suggest that people with differing opinions to you are uneducated and ignorant. People are entitled to differing opinions, but generalizations and comparing a group of innocent people to the Hitler youth is ignorant, offensive and quite simply put, disgusting.

Lets start again children.

The original poster suggested this should behaviour should be imitated because it was intimidating and fun which it was not.

You might like to do a little research on the Hitler Youth and might start with some background reading. Maybe the "Book Thief " might help you.

You might also like to do a little research into the way in which the young people of North Korea are being trained to imitate the Hitler youth.

My fear with that short video was that the same methods and behaviour and tactics of the Nazis were being exploited and used to manipulate football fans of which there are strong right wing elements.

Fascism stinks and I correctly attack it so a wet behind the ears Freshman demonstrates how appallingly low the standards of University Education have fallen.

If one is to obtain a degree from a good university then one needs the skills of analysis, synthesis and sound supported argument. Otherwise you might as well attend a former Polytechnic pretending to be a University.
