I'm still up in the clouds after the result and performance today, but I have to say that something is keeping me a little grounded.
Where did that performance come from, and where has it been all season?
Now I have sat through all the games this season, looking at MON to show me where he is taking the club and wondering where it was all going wrong. Looking back to his first game vs Blackburn we all came onto this site saying pretty much the same as we have today (granted beating them lot by the scoreline we have is a lot different to Blackburn) how Ellis Short has come up trumps and we have the perfect setup to finally go places, but after a short burst of optimism SAFC manage to return to form by turning gold into cheap metal.
My pessimistic side, which being a Sunderland supporter runs deep, wonders how long the PDC effect can keep going? MON was hailed to be the man motivator, and we all bought into this up until the FA Cup replay with Everton, but where was this motivation when we really needed it? Are we opening ourselves up to the hype surrounding PDC too soon?
What I'm trying to say in too many words is, when will our players realise that these performances every once in a while is not good enough and that a change in manager shouldn't be required to bring out their true potential for a short period. As fans we need to expect more consistency and players who will play for the shirt regardless of the opposition or competition, only then can we expect any success.
Now I'm off to watch MOTD2 in hope Mary is in the studio!
