What a weekend...dropped my daughter off at leicester uni on sat am, drove round king power stadium pointing and laughing (her accomodtion just up the road), drove onto ipswich.....what a mad few hours at portman rd.
Back to leicester, stopped at holiday inn express and there was a fundraising "do" at th KP stadium which was a walkaround dressed as st trinians !!!!! must have been over 200 ladies dressed up all queing for some pink balloons............right outside me hotel window <party><party><party><party> THEN picked up my daughter and went for somat to eat before finding a real ale pub (The Globe) and getting pissed with my daughter (she drank cider hhmmnn)

AND we were 6 points above watford.........now i don't believe in God..........but if i knew a wish fairy then this is what i would've wished for
 
If they go up, they'll have money to spend and their owners will probably ensure cut-price deals for the loanee's they'd like to keep - and given that the prem is the most lucrative league in the world, they will focus their international resources of Watford. If they do not go up, with FFP and the international loan rule change than I cannot see them being as competitive in the Championship next season as this one.

Similar to us, If we screw it up now, expect cost-cutting to begin in June, and we will have a much tougher job competing with the clubs with Parachute payments. I'm not counting my chickens just yet but think 2 wins will do it for us.
 
Won't they make a decision on the foreign loan rule in the summer? With the majority in favour of keeping it the way it is?

Also, assuming Watford Dont get promoted and these new rules do come in, if the pozzos wanted to send more players over to Watford but filled their loan spots they'd just send them over on a permanent free transfer (or nominal fee if theres a way of blocking free transfers) and then send them back again when needed. These loan rules won't stop them at all. What they need to do is stop people owning more than one club in any FIFA/UEFA (whoever it is) governed league.
 
No, but contracts will - the majority of a clubs outgoings is wages rather than fees. The player would have to be under contract to Watford and he ain;t gonna move for less than at his original club is he? There will also be a whole raft of monopolies legislation that would be difficult to navigate....

The free-will of a player and his agent will make the tactic you describe very risky for the owning company.

Wages can be subsidised. Free will of the player would make no difference, if he wanted to play at any of the 3 clubs he would, if he didn't want to he wouldn't, regardless of whether its a loan or permanent.
 
No doubt the umbrella will look for a loophole, but there wouldn't be a vote on it if a majority hadn't decided to have a vote, it is just constitutional that it has to be at the AGM, and is the way the league works. If there wasn;t majority support for change than the vote wouldn't be happening in the first-place.

Then there's the fact that it is currently in only one club's interest to keep the rules as they are and against the other 71 not to have a level playing field with regard to international loans - so common sense dictates....

Also, any reputable source is reporting that the restriction is set to be passed - but obviously if you have better contacts than the Telegraph, Mirror (group) and BBC then believe what you will.

As far as wages and fees being subsidised - I'm sure they will try, but there is an awful lot of commercial legislation out there at both British and European level - not to mention UEFA and FIFA to stop that sort of thing happening, and again, once a fee is agreed, the player can always refuse to sign if he can get a better contract elsewhere, thus opening up the competition.

Only articles I can find are from February when the football league decided to try and do something about it and "urge clubs to vote against it" to quote them. I cant find any articles saying its set to or even likely to go through, just that it will be discussed and voted on in the summers AGM meeting. More recently I've heard and read quite a lot that more clubs are supposedly in favour of keeping it the way it is, though admittedly I don't know where that's come from.

It's a long way from being outlawed anyway, so I wouldn't bank on it just yet.
 
You seem to be missing the point that "the football league" is made up of 72 club chairmen and an elected board.

If it didn;t have support it wouldn't be happening.

And if you are struggling for articles saying "it is set to be passed" then you didn;t read the Watford observer headline did you?

Of course it hasn't happened yet but there is enough suggestion out there that it will be passed to be reasonably confident. There is nothing out there in terms of evidence to support your assertation that clubs will in-fact vote against their interests and keep the loop-hole open.

like I said, believe what you will, just don't hold on to "intuition" in order to win an argument when the evidence suggests otherwise.
 
Evidence doesn't suggest anything. It's not being outlawed, it might be. Truth is, no one has a sodding clue, not even the clubs or the league themselves, but word on the street (yeah!) is most people prefer it the way it is. No idea where that came from it's just what people are saying.

We'll seein June won't we? Hopefully it won't matter as the Premier league aren't voting on it.
