View attachment 22847 vs Our first of two tricky away games in four days see's us travel to Yorkshire to take on Barnsley at Oakwell. Last Saturday saw us take 3 vital points in a 2-1 HOME win against Leeds. Jackson put us ahead before a former Addick Varney made the scores level with 10 minutes to go. Then right at the death Obika secured all 3 points for us with a header from close range. Barnsley played away to our close neighbours Crystal Palace at the weekend and as the referee decided their kit was too similar to Crystal Palace they had to play in the Crystal Palace away strip, however this did not stop them coming away with an impressive point in a 0-0 draw. When we played barnsley at home earlier in the season it was a very disappointing performance and in front of a near full house because of football for a fiver. The game ended 1-0 to Barnsley and Cywka got the goal mid way through the second half. We usually do better on the road, well especially this season so we could get something from this game especially seeing as we are in a mini-revival losing 1 of our last 6 and taking 11 points. Barnsley are also in a mini-revival themselves and have also taken 11 points out of their last 6 games so this game really could go either way.
Professional as ever, Belv Not sure what to think of this game as all recent memories of Barnsley aren't exactly great. Being away from home still isn't much of a comfort either as I think we will end the season stronger at home rather than away. I think I'm expecting a draw from this as of now, a defeat tonight/tomorrow morning but a victory come 14:55 tomorrow. As for the team - is Andy Hughes unavailable? If not I'd swap him with Stephens (always pains me). However I wonder if the good doc will go 4-5-1 with Kermo up top by himself and Pritchard coming in to the centre. Prediction - 2-2
Belv ...............Hamer Solly ...Morrison ...Dervite ...Wiggy ....................Hughes.......... Pritchard ..Stephens ..Jackson ..Harriott ............Kermorgant I'm going for 1-1
Belv They're gonna scrap. Getting the first goal would be huge in a game like this. Losing would not be the end of the world, but with Cardiff on the horizon, we could do with a draw.
Predicting Charlton games is tricky because they're all so close, but nevertheless I'll boldly go for a draw, 1-1.
1-1 sounds about right to me as well. We've had three outstanding results in a row and I don't expect us to lose this one, but Barnsley are fighting for their lives and it's going to be a difficult game.
Hey lads, does Solly get 90 mins game time.. I don't get to see the matches.. im keen on betting for a Charlton win combined with a solly goal at 50/1....
Never seen him substituted Oz, except for knocks - his goals are so rare, I'd see if you can negotiate the odds up to 500-1 - LOL! Just off to Whaddon Road to see Cheltenham vs The Gills. It's got 'draw' written all over it, but there's an awful lot at stake on this one.
If it happens ill be laughing... Now that I have thought of it I can't change my mind. It should be wider thought shouldn't it ! The gills are flying... Does look like a draw, but without fence sitting i'd say Cheltenham to win.
Afternoon all Charlton: Hamer; Solly, Wiggins, Dervite, Morrison; Pritchard, Hughes, Jackson, Harriott; Fuller, Kermorgant Subs: Button, Taylor, Wilson, Green, Kerkar, Gower, Obika
He has come very close a few times lately. With Wilson out, Solly is getting forward more, so he might get one before the end of the season. Gower's turning out to be a funny loanee. Even the hapless Jonsson got more playing time.
No Charlton commentary on Player yet. Never heard the 'home' commentators so confident, especially for a team so near the bottom. OK, Charlton commentary now, but it is the strident voiced woman.
Pritchard after 5 mins following good work by Fuller and a fumbled shot from Kermorgant. Our last goal here was from Keith Jones whom Pritchard resembles in some ways.
