I disagree with you phil, the Tories were out of power for more than a decade and have been in and out of power over the years. And mate I lived in countries that truly were dictatorships and are not much better now. You may not class it as much of a democracy, but until you have lived in places that would love the freedoms we have here I don't think you have much context in this.
Why ? Have I insulted you personally ? I don't like unions they are scum of the earth in my eyes. You have a problem with that stance as its against what you think I should be for. It seems that the only opinion allowed is one where you criticise maggie thatcher, anyone dissenting from that point of view is ridiculed. In your case you get personal by it, I don't accuse anyone of being anything, yet I'm a Tory sympathiser in your eyes. Though nothing could be further from the truth.
Surely you don't believe that the government that wins an election wins power? Man the politicians are puppets on a string for the establishment, big business runs this country, and it's owned by the ruling classes!............. PS I'm sure we'll agree that they are all well past their sell by date though!............... please log in to view this image
This fckn thread is past it's sell by date Phil I've nearly run out of beer and peanuts so get on with it please
So who do you think runs countries in the so called fabled perfect democracy ? Have a look at the states and see big business runs things. There was an Eddie Murphy film about it, it was a comedy but it has a hell of a lot of truth in it. If you read the posts by me on here, you will see that I hold these politicos in equal contempt, Cameron and millipond and that lib dem dick head are the kind of people I want to smack. Public school boys with no reality of what it's like to struggle in life.
I think that says it all. "Unions are scum of the earth". Your contempt for the average working class man is laid out on a table for all to see. Perhaps you should put in for membership of the Bullingdon Club after all.
Unions are there to stand up for workers rights and are very much needed, why do you think thatcher hated them so much and set out to destroy the unions. They were the one power that were a thorn in her side and im glad we still have them today. There are some leaders in the TU however i can only describe as plants from the Tory government who are not doing their job properly and are raking in money doing sod all for his/her members and these are the ones that need to be exposed and dealt with.... Without a TU movements the government and High powered bosses would run riots out of their workers but the TU's are there to see fair play and have saved many peoples jobs and improved working conditions and the workers have a voice rather than no voice at all..... We need trade unions in all walks of life....
We do Dai. The capitalists don't. It's a simple as that. They would love to have no opposition and to have everyone working for peanuts in Victorian sweatshops. There would be a problem though Dai - you wouldn't fit up the chimney like you did when you were 14.
Again no idea of this club ! And I have no contempt of the average working man as I am one of them. Your assumptions astound me, I have never mentioned anyone beyond the leaders of unions and politicians, I dislike them all passionately. I notice when Dai says the same thing you say **** all, I just let the double standards show for themselves
The problem Dai is that trade unions are like political parties, they are in it for the money, yes employment law has improved and would have done even without a union. They don't have any useful purpose, and individuals or groups can achieve the same thing. I have utter contempt for them like the current crop of politicians, I fail to see either group working for the public, they are full of grandiose promises but once they achieve power it's **** off joe public I got what I want.
He has said politicians are basically that, the same as I have been saying all along. Don't put words in my mouth
Perhaps your tenure abroad, which enabled you to inform Phil of his lack of knowledge of dictatorships, has left a gap in your own political knowledge of what is actually going on in this country.
Perhaps your inability to see things objectively perhaps because you can't see something from a different perspective, leaves you with a gap in your political knowledge also, have you considered the fact that people can have a different opinion and be correct ? Or are you to bloody set in your ways to realise that others can have opinions ?
You just don't like it because someone is challenging your views. If you come on an open forum in South Wales and spout an anti trade union diatribe while glorifying one of the capitalist icons of the last century then you will meet opposition. It's as simple as that. People and communities are still suffering because of her ideology and aggressive implementation of a harsh economic policy. And you sit there smugly dismissing the efforts of those who tried to oppose her.
I don't give a **** about people challenging me, I have my views and I'll keep my views without being ridiculed by you. Your equally long winded diatribe against someone who has just died is sickening. You mention capitalism as if you are not one, tell me if you are not a child of capitalism what exactly are you ? I just offer an opinion that is different to yours, does that make my view so wrong and yours so right ? You trying to shut me up will not work, I will say what I want and believe, if you oppose that then fine, but don't try to belittle me. You don't want to hear my opinion, well tough titty you'll get it long as you respond to me! And by the way this is not a South Wales forum, this forum is uk wide and its open to anyone who wants to post on here!
