Margaret Thatcher...the woman who destroyed South Wales and mining communities everywhere in 1984 with policies that are still being felt today. She ruined lives and families without remorse. She privatised health care, the railways, everything she could to make money off the back of the working class. She supported the Apartheid regime in South Africa and denigrated Nelson Mandela as a terrorist whilst her government supported homophobic legislation which banned publication of anything homosexual and covered up Hillsborough. She raised VAT from 8% to 17.5% and grabbed all the money she could from the poor, even whilst unemployment levels were kept at record levels. I do not mourn this woman. She lived her life in comfort, peace and wealth whilst hundreds of thousands suffered over the last three decades because of her policies. Today is for the Miners!

So no respect for the dead over here then?

Didn't expect it to be honest... those hit by her laws will I suppose always hold their views.

That's the problem with politics, at one time, someone is always affected in a negative way.
That's also the reason I stay out of it, my housemates doing Masters in Politics know what I think, I think its a pile of ****e and they agree with me, sort of...

But politics has to be done, however there will be no disrespectful comments from me.

Jesus she solved a bucket load of issues out East, and look at the state of the Country when she took over!!

Go back to my previous statement... All politicians...

    Night all!!

    Parties in Frankfurt too.
An effective woman and good at her job. However, she was a completely nasty and vindictive person who was dedicated to a paticular dogma. As a result, she was effective only in splitting the country completley in a way that may never be healed. And in order to do what she did, she used up a huge national resource (North Sea oil and gas).
And she did a number of U-turns too...the first one in February, 1982 which was when the date was set for the strike.
If she gets a funeral like Diana then it is not deserved. I hope the streets are bare.

have to agree UNI, this is what i put on the jack board:

we're talking about a democratically elected prime minister here.

my generation will be paying for the shambolic way labour has run the country in the past years in the coming decades, but i wont be talking about them in such a vile way.

would any of you fancy a 10 hour shift down the mines tommorrow by any chance?

many of them miners are long gone but not forgotten dilli butty,my old man and many others are lying in Aberdare cemetery is testament 2that,we have very little left in Aberdare but some how we still hang on in and exist as best as we can.The pride in this area during the miners strike in 84 was the only good thing that came from it really,we new that whatever they chuck at us from then on in,we can atleast stand and and say fk your policies,we will fight instead for a better place for our kids 2 grow up in weather they cut us in funding or not.....lets be honest whenever the cons get in power we take the main brunt of the cut backs yeah..............................these days I don't vote at all,its turned out 2 be a bit of a joke is the old politics 2 me,a set up from the start (run by the one percent) and until another party steps up 2 the plate 2 speak for me and many others then im out of the system........my main concern in Britain today is the education system, the health service, illegal wars, draconian drug laws, freedom of movement laws, large gathering laws and ****`s being protected in the highest reaches of our so called equal society...............................DOWN WITH DRACONIAN BRITAIN

" would any of you fancy a 10 hour shift down the mines tommorrow by any chance?"

by the way dude, there would be many ready 2 go down for a ten hour shift in my area I can tell you, some would even say a friend at the pit was a friend for life and worth going 2 work just for the crack/but you don't get that these days really its all back stabbing twats out for themselves..............Maggie said the tower had no future but yet through determination from workers they continued 2 take coal from its seams for twenty years or more.......that's twenty more years of work for hundreds of men butty <ok>.......who was wrong yeah!!!!.

uni your 2 young 2 remember butty, you cant be blamed for that dude,it all may seem sick and disrespectful for an old lady but this woman wasn't no lady, she got blinded by power and greed and pushed on by the rich so they could cream an even bigger slice of Britain`s money and land, whilst us working classes were struggling 2 pay the bills and have a regular electrical black outs (im talking 80`s mind)......the yuppies enjoyed rubbing our noses in it by waisting millions upon millions on material bollocks(its an image thing lol)..................................that was Britain then, enjoy your time in uni/uni there was a good chance if you were born at the wrong time during the thatcher years you may not have had a chance at an higher education at all.

I know for one she surely did fk mine up <laugh>

Aberdude - my comment was aimed at the lack of respect for a recently deceased woman (whatever she did aside). Who, by the way, was democratically voted in 3 times!!! I am not a "tory" before someone tries to make some snide remark.

Well that is down to different points of view, I don't want to get into a political debate, especially on a football forum (I'll go to CCMB for that). However, like swamp said, some of the comments are sick.
You had your chance to vilify her when she was alive; don't speak ill of the dead.
That's all I'm trying to say.

I know, deep down I know that I should not feel happy about the death of another human being, somebody's mother.
I have told myself this, I even feel guilty about it - but I just can't help it.
I just think of all the misery she caused for other people's mothers, for families, for miners, for the whole of South Wales, for Liverpool, for the North of England. Her legacy: not enough Council and social housing left after the Council house sell off to the better off council tenants - leaving sink estates, and giving the current mob an excuse to get tough with the poor. Her legacy - privatised energy companies whose obligation is not to heat homes but to make a profit for the shareholders. Her legacy: to make acceptable the demonisation of anything associated with working class culture (look what happened to the Liverpool fans - it was all part of it). Her legacy: a society where wealth became the sole measure of a person's value, of society's value - that is, a society with no values. Her legacy: the woman who came to power on a slogan of 'Labour isn't Working' left office with 3 million on the dole - the country never recovered, we just stopped making things and instead developed an economy based on serving muck and coffee, cleaning and opening doors for people. God help me, forgive me, I just hate her.
DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD .......

    Aber! =]

Have to say I respect how you didn't fly off the hook with me.
We're all massive, obsessive Cardiff fans, we all love football and our football club- but it's only natural that we aren't all exactly the same people!!

I'm 21 years old and to most of you, you think I'm a kid, or an idiot.
However, in fairness I've been through more in my life than a lot of 40+ year olds, and I am constantly being told that. I don't want to go into it, but long and short, I'm not a kid!
I'm not in any way immature at all, there again, I understand how being born after the fact will definitely hinder my views.
I don't have the right amount of knowledge on the topic to argue politics, but I'm all up for discussing morals.
(Of which I know you will say MT had none - I'm not going to disagree with you)

I don't think getting into the type of upbringing / area everyone is associated with is a good idea, we should be judging eachother on how we are, not who we are... but yet again I see exactly where you are coming from. Certain areas are indeed Labour dominant, some are Tory dominant.
However, nowadays, they are all the fking same!!

Think about it, Blair, Brown, and that moron Miliband are all privately educated and Oxbridge bloody doctorates!

    That's not the point though.

Recently I lost a mate, after a tumultuous relationship including a particularly fearsome throw and subsequent knock out by me ( 6"2 225 lbs - grrrr), and as much of a bastard he may have been, as much of my life as he ruined. (He ****ed up a lot by the way and did some terrible things) I'm going to his funeral with forgiveness, because that shows me to be the better person, I suppose it's just the right thing to do.

Everyone knows what Margaret Thatcher did to the Mines and working class, especially in Wales!

    To conclude....
By all means, get p!ssed out of your mind and have a little dance...

I just found it slightly, I don't know, shocking- all the comments being posted right after her death that's all.

Dignity in victory and all that... ;)

Cheers guys, onto the next match... and promotion?
