Apparently he's right at the top of our CB targets for the Summer. If this French article is correct he has been quoted as saying he's not interested in a move to Newcastle but Liverpool would be a club he'd like to play for. Newcastle, Spurs and rumoured Barca all also interested. http://www.francefootball.fr/fiche/...4/07/101913_-alderweireld-vers-liverpool.html
A reporter for the Echo says that Eriksen is our number 1 target for the summer. We're also after Alderweirald. I would be very happy with both of these players - Alder is a classy ball player defender, whilst Eriksen has the ability to unlock defences and act as the link between attack and midfield.
He played alongside Vertonghen and forged a great partnership at Ajax. He may not be as dominant in the air as Vertonghen but he's another talented Belgian with a solid all round game based on physical strength and great passing. He's got quite a few caps Belgium (at all levels including the main team) but he's got a lot of competition with Kompany and Vertonghen. Put it simply - he's like a right footed Agger.
It is starting to look like all top Premier League teams need a token Belgium. City have Kompany, Everton- Fellaini and Mirallas, Chelsea- Hazard, Spurs- Vertonghen and Dembele, Arsenal- Vermalean, plus a few others lower down the league- Benteke, Mignolet, Lukaku. All these players have settled in and performed well.
He's like Agger when he first arrived - scores from outside the box. When was the last time Agger actually used his ability to strike a ball to effect?
1. yes this does now throw doubt on Eriksson. Press guys will bare face it out but it's highly likely we are after the lesser light than the top man. 2. reading this i went we simply don't need another non dominant tippy tappy player. we need a sami hyppia and we need height. Fine fined a technical player cos hyppia could damn well pass it too but no 1 needs to be aerial prowess not elegance.
I can only remember him doing it the once actually He is capable of striking a ball to the same the degree that Roberto Carlos was good at freekicks
