Next season (whatever division!), one or the other, or both?

Simlar players - could we set up a 4-4-2 to suit the two of them up there or will Malky have to choose?

We should pit them against each other for a space. Hopefully it will push them to play much better.

Whichever one it might be we will need to get better service to them that's for sure.

I can't see both playing very often. But they will push each other for the one place.

There's also the probability of another striker on Malky's radar for next season.

Where will that leave Velinkonja and Mason?

I cant see us starting many games 442.

We will need a 3 man central midfield.

West Ham appeared to not require Maynard, and we are probably better than West Ham when they got rid. He was bought to do a job in The Championship. Probably won't be good enough, same for Campbell. Most of the team will change...we've massive changes ahead, make no mistake! <cool>

Kimosabe - sounds like you're assuming we're going up?

They will both be part of the squad assuming we go up of course. 2 good guys to have around who will be keen to do well and push anyone else brought in.

While I like Joe he is too light weight as shown at Watford. Great running the channels and chasing down but gets pushed around too easily by big defenders. Needs to play alongside a bruiser.

As for Velikonja, I hope Malky is beefing him up to make his mark. Done well for Dev Squad. Could well get a chance this season if/when promotion confirmed.

How small is Velikonja? Sorry but MM paid how much for him? He should have been starting games this season not in the development team. Millions for him and we have had a better return from Campbell at 650k!

I think Velikonja will be moved on.

Mason , Campbell , Bellamy , Maynard and a new signing and we will be fine up front.

I think MM will keep all of the strikers we presently have on our books and may bring in an established PL striker also, i dont think he will add many more than 4 new faces assuming we actually reach the promised land.

I'm not counting my chickens just yet. But if we do go up I hope most of the existing squad remain with perhaps some strengthening of the defence. The last thing we need is for money to be squandered on luxury players and then go down a la QPR. Our finances are not in the best of shape and spending money frivolously could leave us in an even more perilous state. I would rather get relegated with an improved financial position than be relegated owing millions that could force us down the plughole with the likes of Portsmouth.

    Very true Whoops.

Malky will have to do some shrewd financial dealing and also ensure players' contracts revert back to Championship levels should we drop back down - better to offer bonuses for staying up. It is important to avoid the sort of crap that Wolves, Blackburn and Bolton have endured in still paying Prem wages for Championship players.

We could do with a striker who can play back to goal as an option. Not necessarily a big target man, but someone who can hold play up. All our strikers seem to like to run the channel which is fine, but sometimes you need to go back to front to releive pressure. That's no good if all that happens is it comes straight back at you.

We need a couple full backs, another centre half, a player in the Mutch mold (a driving midfielder) and at least one hold up striker. There are probably a couple players we need to move on for someone who is a step up.

What I don't want us to do is to start shopping at the relegated clubs. I know there are exceptions, but why would you want to take players that couldn't keep their current teams up?

Before we go too far down this road though, lets get another 8 points first!
