A 45 year old man has somehow managed to run up a telephone bill of £91,184 from phoning dodgy chatlines.
Why am I posting this here, you ask?

He must be lonely to have done that.

Was that tongue in cheek about example PNP? It seems that there's nobody to set a good example any more least of all MPs and clergy. I follow my own example and have done for years. I meditate daily and I find it's good for calmness and confidence and gives me the ability to tell right from wrong as far as attitude etc are concerned. I think it gives me the ability to judge character quite well also,I might be wrong but I seem to look at football managers and think is that a right or a wrong appointment and am mostly right ie O'Neill to Sunderland. Di Canio I feel is wrong too. I recommend meditating to everybody for inner strength.

Er.. I think PNP might be referring to the badge on his jacket, TMT. Looks like it could be Peskie to me <laugh>

They also forced her to sell everything that wasn't nailed down to all of her mates for buttons, whilst continuing to fund it all from the taxpayer's purse.

As I said on the thread that seems to have disappeared, whether you believed in her political agenda, or not, I think her beliefs were firmly held. She was true to what she believed & stood up for it. That in it self is a rarity amongst the plethora of scumbags that make up the current political class, who believe in nothing except getting re-elected and when the next expenses cheque is coming.

Bang on NSIS.

She didn't even saddle the country with the cost of keeping her in a home. She expected people to pay towards their own care if they could afford it. She even paid from her own pocket to stay in the Ritz right up to the end. A very classy lady, she practiced what she preached.

difference is,she could afford it,a lot of people could not,and still can't,such as my ex-brother-in-law,who needs care 24/7,and it's a real battle to keep him in the care home

I think you're missing the point of what I wrote, Tots. I generally detest politicians of whatever credo. However, I do have more time for those who actually have firm & true beliefs, which they are willing to stand up for - whether I agree with all those beliefs, or not.

Although I am far from a rabid socialist, I believe in general in what Karl Marx said. " From each according to his abilities - to each according to his needs" in other words, I have no qualms with the state ( in other words, the taxpayer) looking after those that genuinely cannot look after themselves. Spongers, scrounges, work-shy lazy twats, etc can all go **** themselves.

Yes she can afford it, but she chose to stick to her principles and pay for it rather than leave it to her children.

Your brother in law is a victim of subsequent governments, not Thatcher. Partly Major but mostly Blair and Brown who allowed the bankers to gamble with this countries assets and bankrupt the country. I dont know how old you are Totsfan but if you are old enough you might recall that Thatcher repaid the national debt and moved our finances into the black. It was controversial, she sold loss making nationalised industries like British Telecom to the Private Sector and brought power generation into the 21st century, but even still she did what had to be done. She got carried away towards the end and had to go but on balance she did far more good than bad. Could you imagine Arthur Scargill and Derek Hatten running the country right now, Jesus Christ, there would be more corruption than in a West African State with ****-off oil , gold, and diamond reserves.

Care can only be provided if the country can afford it. The country has gone to the dogs since the demise of the Thatcher government. We owe too much money. The muppets in power nowadays don't love their country, they love their own pockets. Thatcher was against 'the enemy within', in her day the was the unions. If she was around today 'the enemy within' would be the bankers and the money lenders.

So was Josef Stalin...

Thatcher was equally very good and very bad. Your view will always be coloured by whether you or your family (as many of us were kids at the time) benefited or not.

Love her or hate her, you can't deny she was a formidable woman!

i was'nt having ago at her,a lot of what she done was good, although i didn't agree with some if it,and i deffinetly agree with the last sentence.i was just poining out,she could afford to stay at the ritz,so she was right too.
