Ahhh I'm staying away from Nokia! The Lumia looks good and I've heard good things but it's the same as BB in that they fell too far behind ... I think I will go with the Samsung S4 now and I'll probably stay with Vodafone and upgrade at the end of the month. Vodafone are the only network offering 12 months on this phone. I refuse to sign up to a 24 month contract!
Think the Nokia is better than the windows phone whch I think is HTC? not sure on that. Still early days, don't mind it but am sure something will come out and I will want that next big thing.
Android has more market share but apple gets more apps first because it is easier to make app work on more closed architecture. As Android get more and more market share (as appears to be trend) this could become MS vs Apple in the PC world where Apple is the lesser brand for software. However your phone will prob be replaced by then so the fact that Apple gets app first now is defo a pro for them. I went with Samsung because I could shop anywhere... there was competition (unlike iTunes store) and I was sick of hearing silly stories of Apple vs whoever suing them for using rounded corners etc... as a company seem more morally fraught than others. Apple lost me of ever being a customer by being so sue happy and anti innovation. Fact you can get a better spec phone for a whole lot less money made the decision easier.(not sure if that is still true). Really though... if you like iOS... and used to iOS you're probably not going to want to change to Android.
All the google apps are available on iOS... The usability of the iPhone is much better than the Android phones I've experienced (had a few). Apple are generally a little trendier, yes, but their devices seem more intuitive and pleasing to use. The camera and screen on the iPhone are very good too, which you don't hear about often. I suppose if you already use iTunes it's an added bonus in terms of simplicity too (although I use Songbird for usual music playback). Tesco is a good network - I think they use O2's coverage (something I heard, might not be true). Incredible contracts are possible with them, my deal for the 4S is pretty great.
Having had android, windows phones and now IPhones I have to tell you the iPhone is the best and I only have an iphone4. Wasn't over keen on android, found it very clunky and fiddly. The windows phones are really good but are just pipped by iPhone..ESP as it links up with my iPad. Will Definately get an iphone5 when contract is up later this year. Never had BB but both my sons have and they are overrated ****e! I have been with 02 for years now and always found them helpful and get good signal strength. Can't see me changing.
BB are rubbish which is why the company is failing. same as nokia they have missed the boat in perosnal devices and apps etc. too businessy. I have the iphone 4 and will prob go for 5 simply cos itunes has me locked... I think android has improved radically though and is as good.... if not better. I just hate apple and all it does to customers. We are so straight jacketed its untrue and i absolutely HATE the fools who go toss off over new ones and rush out to buy it the day it comes out and get their too easily earned money fleeced from them. Apple are as bad as G&H if not worse! Milk was right about the devil..
oh and FACT... tablets are a fad. they are great but not worth more than a lap top to run hardly any software, not when a phone (my iphone 4 can run all apps) can do most everything that ipad can. A colleague bought a HP laptop for £300 and it had 6mb ram etc etc... so right now there is zero incentive for me to get a 32gb flash memory device with one usb port for 500 or whatever they are. CRAZY. The new and next gen tablets are hybrids that will bridge the gap between laptop and tablet and i think the two will merge. there is a reason why apple brought of the pad mini... its not to compete with amazon kindle, its to position a device in the lower bracket. Windows 8 looks to be a good bridge attempt already, you get the very best of both, software and apps potentially. Another 5 years? I think this market will be VERY different, mobile = on your person device, tablet/laptop to become perosnal computing. web books are dead... and desktops? well i really don't know. the office place in 5 years should not have any. will apple be no 1? i am not sure. when you finally hear apple start to buy other innovative companies rather than innovate themselves you'll know they're done.
Never had an iPhone, Apple has enough of my money. Just bought the other half a Macbook Pro for £2k! In fairness it is an awesome device, she uses it for design stuff. But I'm not sure if you can play FM on it yet, Bluff might know???
Thanks for the input gents - I can safely say that I still don't have a clue as to what I want. Might go back to the Nokia 3210 - a time when life was so much simpler ...
