Morning guys,

Slighty unrelated topic but would like to gather everyone's opinions on the new Galaxy 4.

I currently have an iPhone 4S which has served me very well but I'm due an upgrade - either I can get the S4 at the end of the month or I can take out a cheaper rolling contract and wait for the new iPhone?

Anyone have any experience with both iOS and Android?

In addition, I was wondering if I should change network - I'm currently on Vodafone.

I like Vodaphone. I have a Galaxy Ace so a bit of a dinosaur but imo it's not the phone that really matters but using it so that it suits you with getting the best apps to get the most out of your phone.

I like Vodafone as well but last weekend, my cousin was showing me his iPhone 5 and he's on 3G and the browsing speeds were incredible. Whether this is down to the phone or the network ...?
 
I agree with Luv. It depends, I've neve had a Samsung Galaxy before so can't comment on the phone itself but every time I've had a different phone to my iPhone Ive always been disappointed (I have a white iPhone 5 atm and I love it)

The Galaxy's are suppose to be really good though, my brother has a Samsung galaxy note 2 and my brother in law has a Samsung galaxy S3 and they both rate their phones and have never had problems with either of them.

Can be the network but can also depend on where you are, and whether there's a strong wifi signal.

In with O2 and they're really good as well <ok>

(Btw, I pay £36 a month for my contract and that includes 1gb of Internet, unlimited texts and minutes, and all I had to pay was £25 for the phone itself. Got the deal at Carphone warehouse)

Yeah I know what you mean - I had BB and a HTC Desire before I got my iPhone and the iPhone is definitely the best phone I've had. However, the Android software on the Desire has improved considerably since.
 
Speed is down to network mate. Check online for your area to see who has the best 3g or 4g cover. I moved from Vodafone to T-Mobile and i get around 6/7mb roaming. I used to have an iPhone a few years ago but switched to Android and have not looked back, i have a Note2 which is a beast of a phone, i struggle with my eyes so the big screen is a must for me. Also great as a working tool for notes spread sheets and presentations

I've had a BB three times, didn't like any of them and it was a massive down grade to an iPhone (had an iPhone 4S before the BB)

I had a HTC 3D and whilst it was better than the BB (which isn't hard) it was no where near an iPhone, for me the iPhone is the best out there atm but the new Galaxy certainly comes close <ok>

Ahh I see - I was tempted to check out 3 network but heard some horror stories re. their customer service.

The reason I liked the BB was mainly because of BBM and physical buttons. I had a few bad experiences with touch screen phones (before I went with iPhone) and they were terrible. iPhone was the first (and only so far) touchscreen phone that I like and I could never go back to BB - it's amazing how far they have fallen behind.
 
It also depends what you use your phone for, like SJD said he said its great for spread sheets and what have you but if you don't use it then that ain't really going to persuade you into buying it however if you are going to use all these little things then it'll definitely be worth it.
 
I think if you check it out they all have bad days, i had a nightmare with Vodafone, but a lot of friends think they are great. Go into the shop and have a play..
If you want the latest and greatest get the Galaxy4 when its out. If you want a great phone on a great contract get a Note2 with T Mobile.
I have a freind in work who went for the iphone 5 even though i tried to talk him into Android, he is gutted now the new iphone he is so dissapointed with it.
To be fair i also have a lot of friends that love the new iphone, you need to have a play to see what is best for you

It's bizarre, the thing is they make these touchscreen BB but they don't seem right because blackberry's are suppose to have the QWERTY keyboard, but they aren't going to progress within the market if they don't introduce more of these up to date touchscreen smart phones.
 
thinking of an iphone5 myself

its not a great price for my upgrade but i think the next iphone is going to be a small change and not worth it.

I know someone with galaxy (prvious) and they are happy.... i mean ok i am locked to itunes and such but the thing is i can unlock the iphone 4 i have and give it so that locks us too.
 
oh and spped is entirely down to 4g network and roll out. I can swatch sky go on my iphone on g3 so i imaging 4g will be fun...
 
Will say the note2 is a big phone so not for someone with small hands or skiny jeans..

If internet is important to you that is also a big selling point for a 5.55in screen Sky Go is fantastic on it. Everyone is gathered around my phone on breaks at weekends keeping up to date with football lol

I saw the prices for 4G on EE and they're quite high. I'll probably wait until 4G is released on all networks which should hopefully encourage them to lower prices.

The new releases from BB look encouraging but I can't see them ever overtaking Android and Apple now.
 
I was thinking about getting the galaxy S4, but ended up getting the Nokia Lumia 800 instead. Cheap, good battery life, does everything you want an android phone to do and it's on Windows 7.5, cost me £110 pay as you go (have a contract, but broke the phone they gave me), so I reckon contracts shouldn't be too much more than £15-20 a month.

Orange are a good provider if you plan on staying with them a while, my dad is currently on his 5th contract with them and was offered an iPhone for £20 a month. There are better providers out there for price though.
