on what basis do the mags reckon they are in for a better summer than ours?? overall i'm disappointed by us this season, and credit where it's due, they've done well, but our owner is likely to back our manager (whether he deserves it or not), whereas they are definitely going to lose at least one of their best players, and have a history of being bent over by their owner. i know who's more likely to be going into 2011-2012 in the better shape...

I cant speak for everyone but personally for me im excited that we have 35mill that will hopefully be reinvested, we will have the likes of Ben Arfa back, and we have been linked with a fair few exciting players.

fair enough you have finished a point above but im pretty sure we can cover that point with incoming transfers.

You got £35 million, but Andy Cap was on 20k a week.

To spend £35million on quality, you will also have to cover the increase in wages.

Same for Enrique, the contract he's on will be cheaper than any adequate, never mind equal replacement.

It's basic economics, unless of course, fat Mike is gonna cover an extra £10-15million wages from his own pocket?

On the basis of your financial situation going by the figures you released this season. Also down to the fact that a few of your best players were loanees and your best player was sold. Your season pretty much panned out like last season and you have finished what, 3 points better off than last year. Short is already bank rolling you to keep you going to the tune of what 25 mil a year. We will break even this season. It is just my opinion that I don't think you will be spending big in the summer but I could be wrong. Looking at it logically then there is nothing wrong with what I am saying. Because we are breaking even, it has been our policy since the day we were relegated to only spend money generated. We have around 45 mil from what I am led to believe which although I am not confident of all of it being spend, I am sure that most of it will be used.

you may well finish with that extra point if you bring in some good signings, but you're assuming that we won't buy anyone, which we clearly will. you have £35m from carroll?? forgot about our £24m for bent have you?? forgot about our wealthier owner, who has a track record of spending?? and also, finally, we finished a point above you, but have been crippled by injury for half the season, you've had it bad for about a month. get a grip.

Know what I could not give a toss what the silly sods from NE1 have to say or how they say it, biggest smile I have had for months and it will remain all summer.

All that is left to say is

You didn't get 24 mil up front and the first instllment you received from villa was owed to spurs.

Like it or not we will be able to attract better players than yourselves that's not arrogance that is fact due to our seasons in europe. and ashley might be a tight arse but he has a hell of a lot of money.

you guys spent some of your bent money already so you dont have your 24mill for the summer.

Every window since Ellis took over we've had Toon fans telling us we won't spend.

    Every window we have.

Let's wait and see who does what, but i have no reason to doubt that Ellis won't back a club he has invested so heavily in, as a multi-billionaire, he'll be aware of the need to speculate to accumalate.

wasnt it 8 years ago the last time you were in Europe? how many players are going to go, "oh Newcastle they were in Europe once, must sign for them", its like Leeds or even Norwich saying they were once in Europe so they can attract better players than us, its a load of crap basically.

Players will look at where we finished, and how much we can pay them, if they like it, they will sign, if they dont they will bugger off somewhere else. (we, as in both of our clubs)

That's assuming you are trying to sign "recognised" players which we are not. Like it or not, we carry a bigger name than Sunderland and our chief scout has proven himself in terms of players to go for. We aren't after marquee signings and us as fans don't want that either.

And smart circus, I'm not an accountant but it's not rocket science to read and interpret what was made common knowledge.

last 3 years we have finished above you, thats not gloating its fact, why on earth would players go for you over us, yes we think the sun shines out of everywhere within our clubs, but we are both chicken feed in the grand scheme of things.

If Man U, Liverpool. Arsenal even Spurs go in for a player we are going in for, then the chances are they will go to them (location as well as the club itself).

lets just see what the summer brings, once the transfer window closes then we can see who has done what and who has spent more and got the better players in. (I think there will be a few surprises, both good and bad from both clubs)

You've finished above us yes, but what does that mean in the grand scale of things. The players we will be going in for won't be the names the bigger clubs will be after. It's like saying Stoke could get a player over newcaslte because they finished higher. Doesn't work that way mate. We've just came back up and finished very respectably. Surprised me how well we have done. We are after young hungry players with sell on value. If they can't see the potential in a move to Newcastle then they are better off not signed. They will have to fit in to our team ethic otherwise they won't even be entertained. We have a good dressing room so we have to be careful on who we sign. I don't think you have at so much at Sunderland as you bring in too many loans. Bruce has to sign players in positions that you had covered this season just to stand still. Just my opinions though mate, what will be will be.

isnt that just a good way of saying you are going to be a selling club though?

thats what it used to be years ago anyway, buy/train good youngters and sell them for a profit 2-3 years down the line, but the club does sod all in that time, and we get accused of selling our best players. so are a selling club with no ambitions.

(we have been there as well as you)

hold on. you were bigger than us, now you command more tabloid inches because of your whale of an owner and the fact you employ gentlemen like joey barton. hypothetically, if we were to go in for the same player, which i think is what you are trying to get at, it's more likely that we would come out on top (i believe last time that happened we ended up with kilgallon, so not like it's the best thing in the world anyway...). you were in europe what, nearly a decade ago?? no-one outside of ne1 gives a toss i'm afraid. what a player will see, is that we have been in the premier league four years now, and come on fairly well the last three. you will be going into just your second consecutive season in the prem, missing a player who was very important to your early season form.

at the end of the day, players will come to who offers them the most money. short has backed bruce every year since he came, there is no reason to think he won't again. will ashley?? his track record here is not good. you talk like you're the nostradamus to ashley's chequebook, but you have no idea if pardew will see a penny of carroll's fee.

Right, say I take your points on board. It looks like we will be signing nzogbia, a player that Bruce wants and by all accounts, he wants to come back to newcastle. And as to your Carroll reference. Check out our results with and without him. I think you'll find they are very similar. He was a key part of our team but we never relied on him like you have done with bent. We have scored a lot of goals at home this season with or without Carroll.

The HUGE difference is, your midfielders can score, ours cant and have never been able to for the past 5-6 years at least, when Riveros scored today I was like "christ a midfielder" not nice one son about time lol

PS: i know zendon scored but he is about the only one that can.

Aye, it's been a problem for you like. What ever happens its going to be an interesting summer. Once Ben arfa and gosling get fit and through pre season that will be like 2 new signings in themselves.
