Why?

We're adults, if that's ok with you? As long as it stays at taking about it and within reasonable boundaries then I see absolutely no reason whatsoever why it should not be discussed by grown men.

Because it always ends up in petty bickering and point scoring.

If its within reasonable boundaries then fair enough, but you get people on both sides trying to take the moral high ground with these kind of subjects.

It's your place to control the debate not stifle it

By choosing what subject matter is acceptable you're doing the latter

That as may be, but I for one am sick of the incorrect accusation that anything said against pool leads to a 'that's about hillsborough' complaint when it is not. Clearly BB is of the same opinion.

I agree with everything BB has said and also NOF in the post above and I ain't about to apologise for it.

Alright lads, yes I was banned. Yesterday I tried to engage in a discussion with a few of the Liverpool lot about the Rio/Anton chanting at the England game. My point was that I understood why the fans were chanting about Rio but considered the inclusion of Anton in the chant to have a more sinister motivation. After all, the guy has never played for England! The basic response I got was that Rio was a prick and I was a tool for not accepting that (the usual insults some of them like to dish out). I pointed out repeatedly that I hadn't defended Rio and was more interested in their views on Anton being chanted about by England fans. Ultimately their argument was that it was all to do with Rio and it's just a common terrace chant that no United fan could complain about as we sing our own version of it. Basically they wanted to focus on Rio and make it a club bias issue with no interest in the bigger issue of casual racism potentially still being too common in the game (they don't like admitting that it could be a problem, they prefer to focus on vilifying the victim!). Any attempt to try and get them to drop the Rio obsession and discuss Anton was met with insults.

So I thought I'd try a little experiment to see how they'd react to something that they find offensive and yes I did refer to them as the Murderers by saying the Murderers had a good result against Villa. Obviously I was immediately set upon and responded to their outrage in my best Scouse manner ie giving back a bit of abuse (except for Luvgonzo who's a good lad). I was subsequently banned. If there's one thing some of the Liverpool fans on here have proven it's that they think they have a god given right to dish it out but will quickly revert to outrage and victim mode when they see something that offends them. I see some are now hiding behind Hillsborough when they know the reference is about Heysel, an event they persistently try to airbrush out of history.

I should add that the comment, which I admit was designed to provoke a reaction and a demonstration of their hypocrisy, was posted on the United board so you'll all have to accept that you're now being closely scrutinised by the legion of Liverpool mods. I understand why JC went along with the decision, I imagine he had a number of their mods whining as only they can. I also don't blame JC for thinking I'd lost the plot as I was deliberately giving them a taste of their own. I often think some of the Liverpool fans are nuts!

I expect this account to be banned as well but I could well be back! I'll also continue to post using my Liverpool account. It always amuses me that I can make the likes of BBF agree with me on something if I say it as a Liverpool poster but he'll launch into drunken Slur Baconface mode if he sees the same thing posted by a United fan.

Disappointing result today but a great goal by Ba and an absolutely brilliant save by Cech. Chelsea deserved the win.

Cheers,

NOF

There is a lot swept under the carpet about Heysel. I know. I was there.

Come off it Bow. Anyone on your board who disagrees with anything gets called names then as soon as you retaliate they get banned from it.

You have numerous posters posting utter drivel which is allowed under the confines of 'your' board. I don't see why NOF should be banned from the site.

This site is meant to be free speech.

Free speach within reason - not that a set of rules has every been set out on this forum.

References to the plane crash is never tolerated on our board.

Calling for him to be banned shows the usual M.O. though, it's standard behaviour

That's your decision to make.

Heysel happened. It's something that will be associated with your club forever and will hang over English football. . Shouldn't mean it's brushed under the carpet. I think NOF explained his reasoning behind what he did. . Whether what he did was right or wrong is a matter of perspective. .

Just ban him from 'your' board like the rest us and move on. . Then you can all have your enclave of rawk on not606.

I still can't believe I got banned from it, as there are a few posters I enjoyed interacting with.

I suspect that by nature many of them have to be top dog and they aren't very good at dealing with criticism or piss taking. How many of them jumped onto the bandwagon in the glory years? Their natural instinct was to support the best team in the country/Europe which allowed them to "look down" on other supporters. They still like to dish it out but when they are on the receiving end in any way they start throwing windmills. Whilst they talk of an open forum what they mean is a forum in which nobody criticises Liverpool or questions their history or imminent return to greatness. Bow, maybe it's you who should try another forum although I suspect they'd eat you alive on RAWK!

Missed all of this with the thread now on this board but for NOF ban, it had to be approved by a United MOD. I try to avoid this thread now unfortunately but will interact here and there with some of the others. Wish the TV-Movie could be multi-boarded but is what it is.

Look. I've just tried to be reasonable on here. See MY comment on Heysel. Ans, don't tar everyone on the Liverpool forum with the same brush. Swarbs is supposed to be coming for a pint with me tonight. That's how if ****ing well should be - ALL OF YOU <ok>
