Been going to the match since '79 and as far as I can remember we have won jack barring the odd Fizzy Pop cup. This got me thinking about our managers and again I can't remember us ever having a foreign manager, I could be wrong as no doubt someone will point out. So IF Bruce goes do we try a foreign manager or stick with the British managers who have won us zip and got us nowhere for the 30 odd years I've been going. Our most successful manager was Peter Reid in the late 90s getting consecutive 7th place finishes in PL and that is about as good as it has been for SAFC. For our next manager we should look to a foreigner to try and change it up a bit and bring in some different styles and coaching techniques. I can't give you any names as I don't follow any different leagues.
Prefer brits but martin jol would be my choice, good man manager. Think slackjaw inherited a good spurs side from him.
For me someone who knows/has played in the Premier, but who can bring new ideas into the club, if he's a foreign manager then so be it. All I would ask is that they buy into the passion of the fans and understand we don't ask for a lot, just a team whose passion and commitment will mirror our own (plus a couple of wins wouldn't go amiss either).
would love Martin Jol, Luis Van Gaal, Guss Hiddink, Rijkard, the Dutch have some world beating managers,
I'd be happy with those, but the managers desk would be massive and the half time team talks would take hours.
