Sorry to sound like an idiot but I'm living in Bristol but am from Liverpool and have been the memorial once as I'm at uwe, just really wanted to know a bit more about the club and why they have that nickname, also any other info will be appreciated

Their old ground was next to a Gas holding tank, so we started calling them that as they stunk of gas. It worked back then as an insult, but in time they started to call themselves it so it became their own nickname.

Think I'm correct but I will let the Rovers fans fill you in some more if I'm not correct <ok>

They have always been known as '****s' but gas was a more polite name for them

Hi Danny, ignore these smelly turds. Trust me when I say you don't wanna venture on their side of the river if you can help it <ok>

ROD is right, it was a dirogetory nickname given to us by those 6 fingered freaks south of the river, but we liked the name so much that we adopted it as our own. It has stuck ever since <ok> The name came about from the Eastvile stadium era when we were situated right next to gas works, and the smell of gas would fill the air in the immediate area, hence why we were called the gas, and later on gasheads.

Another interested point about us....our "anthem" Goodnight Irene came about when we were thumpting Argyle, and started to sing goodnight Argyle - We liked it, and Goodnight Irene stuck from then on (apparently).

tell him he has been a great signing giving 100% every game which is all we can ask for regardless if he scores or not. we love a tryer. i predict big things for him if we can keep him for a few seasons.

Yet another of the catalogue of missed opportunities at AG to develop young players who seriously make the grade!! And I'm pretty sure Brunt will!!

He left your Acadamy to join Stoke. City lost him. ie. he joined the list if youngsters who left City to go elsewhere. Fact or not?
