What a bitter little man he is dragging this up after all this time....

The former England international, who announced on Monday he will hang up his boots at the end of the season, joined Newcastle in a £16million deal from Real Madrid in August 2005.

His four years in the north east were badly hampered by injury, but he still produced a healthy return of 26 Premier League goals from his 71 appearances.

The former Liverpool striker joined Manchester United as a free agent after his deal expired when the Magpies were relegated to the Championship, but many supporters still bear a grudge following his exit.

Owen, now with Stoke after three seasons at Old Trafford, has moved to set the record straight and took to Twitter to explain his version of events.

"I've seen it a million times, a club will blatantly lie to their fans to take the moral high ground leaving the player with no leg to stand on."
Michael Owen
Owen wrote: "Newcastle fans, plenty of you tweeting me saying you don't blame me for getting injured but for leaving when we got relegated.

"Despite the club saying they did, they didn't ever offer me a new contract despite them putting it in the press that they did.

"How could they when they had just been relegated? It would have been financial suicide.

"I've seen it a million times, a club will blatantly lie to their fans to take the moral high ground leaving the player with no leg to stand on.

"I've taken the stick for years which is fine but you really don't know half of it. All will be revealed one day."

Well, that's because despite the club spending millions on trying fix him, his legs weren't capable of him standing on them! Useless ballbag.

No Michael, this is why we hate you. After collecting millions from us to combine time in the treatment room with helping us to get relegated, why should it have been financial suicide? If you hadn't been such a money-grabber then it wouldn't have been financial suicide. Perhaps the fans thought you owed us after collecting a fortune for doing not very much at all. You no doubt were well payed at MUFC. Nobody, including yourself, will ever know how rewarding it could have been to succeed on the pitch. Never mind, we had a proper striker in Shola to take your place and we did better without you than you did without us.

says the guy, that was screwing us over with his mega wages and nothing in return
picking up his last months wages whilst traing with Manure

not saying that he would of taken a paycut whilst in the championship, was he

Get ****ed you repulsive Scouse bastard. Go back to your stables and sexual abuse one of your horses as no one cares what you have to say daft ****

I am confused here. Wasn't it reported that he was quoted as saying that was considering the contract offer?

Furthermore, didn't he say that his family were all settled up in the North East, that his kids were happy at the local school and were becoming little Geordies and then next minute flying back to Chester where his family were settled, his kids were in a Cheshire school and were most certainly not becoming little Geordies?

Yes, but that was his other face doing the talking that time.

Now BRS, normally I would have to make a point about the use of such language and direct insults not being in the spirit if the forum. But, this is Michael ****ing Owen the little ****. <ok>

Also, perhaps if he'd made more of an effort on the occasions he did make it onto the pitch we wouldn't have been relegated.

Couldn't agree more, his body language always seemed to indicate disinterest, and I personally thought he was a poor choice of captain, too self absorbed!

Michael, Michael, Michael - Your performance on the final day of the season at Villa showed us fans exactly what you were all about. The one time we really needed a performance you were walking around the pitch thinking of your next big pay day.

A sad little man who could have been one of the games greats but threw it all away in pursuit of a quick buck.

" Michael.....you lying bastard, go and say 25 Hail Marys and don't forget to put the £10m you took from the Toon in the collection box on the way out "

My hatred towards him is on the reason that he demanded to go to the 2006 world cup when he was advised his previous injury had not healed,in theory he did not give a damm about us
