As a youngster I hated anything 'hoppy' and loved my cider. I drank nowt but 'Thorn for years and years.

Then I went travelling back in the early 90s and to my surprise found that Blackthorn was not readily available in Phoenix Arizona, Kandy Sri Lanka and Cuzco Peru, so I went onto lager.

As I've got older I've now got into real ale - something that I loathed as a kiddy. I still like a pt of Thorn (or Black Rat), but I'm just as likely to be quaffing a pint of golden ale. Current favourite is Punk IPA from Brew Dog - they've got a bar at the junction of Baldwin St and High St.

What's your favourite pint?

When I was 17 I used to like Carling but cant stand beer now. Would rather drink vodka and red bull, J bombs and Kopparbarg.

My beer drinking experience mirrors your own BB. Was a cider drinker, moved on to lager mainly due to limited choice of cider and now love a pint or 10 of real ale. Gem at the Wellie aint a bad pint.

I do still indulge in the cider from time to time. Got wrecked on Old Rosie when I went for a weekend in Cornwall last summer. :)

In the same glass?!

Don't you drink pints shiny?

Same glass yeah ;) Go Hard, Or Go Home

Would be a glass of Vodka and Redbull, Bout 1/3 of a pint. J bombs the same, And Kopparberg, Straight from the bottle

when i started off drinking alcohol was when i was going down town with my mates. i started off on beer drinking stella and fosters but found that pints was annoying as i always got knocked and had pint spillages <grr> so i went to bottles and budweiser (waaaasssuuuuppppp<laugh>) was the choice. much more easier. then some clever dick in my group kept banging the top of my bottle with the bottom of their pint glass and my drink just shot up and out all over the place <grr> i then went to vodka and redbulls. that was bloody expensive. i then tried guiness but i thought that was disgusting and never trued it since and that was 10 years ago. it was my brother in law that got me to try cider and i liked it. it was a can of scrumpy jack. but i have never seen it in the pub on tap. so i asked what other cider do they do and blackthorn was the answer so i tried it and got hooked on cider. after trying cider drinking cans of scrumpy and pints of blackthorn, the next time i had beer i thought it tasted funny and wasnt keen. i had a major issue when blackthorn changed. it was awful. so i then stuck with bottles of cider trying different ones like katys thatcher and brothers and when im in the mood for beer i like coronas and desprado bottles. its rare for me now to drink pints. i usually go for bottles now.

Strangely enough I started drinking ale first, it was a pint called Welsh which is now Brains. Also used to drink brown top. I went to a bar when i was young and drank simmonds ale half price for 28p a pint. Moved onto Lagar and stayed I do drink cider but don't get tipsy on it just straight from sober to pissed up mess, and miss out of the good stage tipsy. If I'm out on a session now it's Vodka lemonade. Got into it when they first diagnosed me coeliac. But found out later it was partially inactive so I don't need the full blown diet just stay away from certain things. So I enjoy Lagar but not really into ale no more.

Gas, Old Rosie is quite supoib - a lovely pint from the birthplace of Fred West!

Shiny - Kopperberg - is that pear cider? To be honest I've never tried it but the thought of a drink made from pears makes me want to retch - but then I don't like pears.

CJS - pints do get spilled but if I'm out and about I want to spend less time queuing at the bar and more time drinking and enjoying myself, so it has to be a pint purely for the volume. Having said that, pints in clubs are a nightmare but I can count the number of times I've gone clubbing since my kids were born on the fingers of one of ROD's hands. That's 7 times.

A lot of the younger generation seem to drink bottled beer, alcopops and shorts.

Real men drink pints, man up ya raging ****ters. <diva>

You horrible bastard I have lost two and half of my fingers. Be careful what you say to people you don't know!!!

Well that means you've still got four and a half left ROD - almost a full house!

In that case I'd imagine you look very much like Jeremy Beadle.

Can you remember those wonderful things to take, and no matter how much you drank you never got stupidly drunk just chewing your gums off <laugh>

Yes <whistle>

I also remember paying 5 quid for a bottle of water at an illegal rave in some farm field in Oxfordshire to avoid dehydration :D

i went out once for a night out in town and i wasnt drinking booze as i was driving instead. couldnt believe soft drinks was more expensive than alcohol.
