Did anybody else see what happened to the man with the fez hats last night? He came into the ground just before the kick off wearing about 20 of them on his head on top of a City hat. He said, "Fez Army" and was surrounded by six stewards who told him to take them off. He explained that he was selling them to support the victims of the Al Ahly riot. They said they'd never heard of it. He explained it was for charity. They told him to put the fez back in the box he was carrying and then confiscated them. It seemed very over the top. I didn't even get the chance to buy one.
I saw him at Palace, he had all the Fez's on literally like you said about 20, a tiger onesie, and a city shirt over the onesie, and to top it off on the back of his shirt read "MAULED BY THE TIGERS" Now that is what you call a fantastic effort.
That should have been challenged. At the very least they should have told him to take them back to his transport. Utter over the top nonsense.
Some people did but the chief steward was very bolshie about it all and I think people realised it was starting to become something bigger than it need to be so they let it go. The guy was clearly not going to cause any trouble. He was good humoured and dealt with it well. The City fans in the area were much more sensible than the stewards who were making it into something big and wouldn't back down. Much respect to the Fez Army man!
