http://shedlowerblue.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/magnay-my-time-at-chelsea.html Interesting read and confirms what I'd said about him all along. One good thing about FFP is I'm hopeful it will force the hand of those at the top and we will start using more youth. If Chabolah isn't first team in 3 years we may as well close down the academy, McEachran will never make if IMO.
There are so many DL! Our performanes in the FA Youth Cup over recent years has been incredible, but it never seems to translate into stars on the pitch! Apart from JT , Bertrand has been our only graduate and even he spends more time bench warming than playing!
A really interesting read for me, I had no idea that was happening. AVB has gone way down in my esteem, up until now I had thought he was an ok manager but just not suited to chelsea. I have always thought our youth should be bought through to the first team and don't agree with all the spending on outside players 'just coz they can'. A youth player will be so much more commited to playing in the first team than an outsider and would probably try so much harder as its their dream. I agree we need a long term manager as its the only way all this is going to work. Good to hear so much praise for JT as well.
I think there was fault on both sides. But AVB wasn't the right fit at Chelsea and had an impossible task. He was probably given the brief to break up the Old Guard, with no backing in the transfer market hence no players to do it with, it was square pegs round holes and I blame the board for his failure as much as AVB himself and the players but the egotistical megalomaniacs in the board are too proud to apportion themselves any blame and will point the finger solely at the players/fans/manager instead. It's clear AVB tried to rule with an iron fist but appears to have learnt from his mistakes. It's not easy when you come into an environment like Chelsea where the players have won everything and to be frank, have more experience winning things than the manager so when they're told to play a high line etc they probably think "Well, we won the Double using Ancelotti/Mourinho's tactics". Scolari was the only one that tried to change it (prior to AVB). Grant and Ancelotti were both "Yes Men". At least at Spurs where the players have won nothing, the players are more willing to adapt to his approach and he has been less abrasive and more democratic regarding decision making, and as a result the team are firing on all cylinders and as things stand look likely to finish in the top 4 and/or win the Europa League.
Interesting read re AVB, blimey given our talent at that level its good we kicked him out when we did. Now I'm fully understanding the context within which how such a model pro such as Lamps could end up falling out so badly with him.
Jesus! Talk about the blind seeing only what they want to see! Let's just all accept that CFC wasn't ready for AVB (or vice versa), and move on, shall we?
...and it also completely puts paid to the notion that AVB was changing things around to reduce the age of the squad... If so, telling the youth team to train in another building is a funny way of going about it!
What the hell are you going on about now !!, this was an article from someone regarding what happened to him and our youth players under AVB. We have all (or most) said we think AVB fits better with Spurs, and as with most of us we go through life improving on what we have previously done wrong and learn from it, as perhaps he has done. What is your problem with us on here ? Unless yet again you want to say you are not WUMMing just 'jesting' with us.
We don't want your comment Herbert its not solicited or worthy of consideration please **** off back to the losers board.
