Saints fan in peace here..........Strewth me old buddies what on earth has happened to the way Norwich used to play. I truly cannot think of another nil-nil between us for half a ruddy century. I guess for us that could not attend it will be another late night as we are bound to be the last match. I would have laid money that you guys would not have parked the bus.......mind you I guess it is for us to break you down. Which seems to be our achilles heel at the moment. We just need a couple of players with just that bit more quality. As for the penalty.......very debatable. All the commentators could not believe it, they thought he was out of the ground with a second yellow for diving. It was not one of Clattenburgs better games me thinks. Hopefully the point did us some good. Best of luck for the rest of the season guys....but have to say I don't envy you having to watch that type of football too often..................
Clattenberg doesn't have better games. He is woeful. You deserved to win and if we had fluked the win because of Clattenberg it would have been a travesty. And yes, at the moment our team is a disgrace and shameful to the history of NCFC.
Really? Just think back to the time of he who must not be named and Grant then relegation to League 1. We got a clean sheet, didn't lose and are pretty much safe in the Premier League. What a stupid statement. I'm appalled by this comment.
This is bang on to me. I don't know how long Tettey is out for, but Fox must have slept with Mrs Hughton if he gets overlooked for the next game, that was a dreadful performance from Howson. He had no ideas on the ball, and kept getting caught in possession, and whilst I can't blame an entire performance on one player, I'd really like to in his case. We were crying out for someone to put their foot on the ball, control possession and let us build, Howson didn't offer that. Neither did he offer the box-to-box style he supposedly plays with. Yet he played the full 90 mins, and I believe we only used 2 subs. I didn't watch the first half, but by all accounts we were poor then too. I don't think Pilks going off helped us, as we looked too lop-sided, as any forward runs pretty much had to go through Snodgrass from then on. I was surprised we didn't drop Kamara into a more left sided position, and bring Wes into the middle. To be honest, I'd have preferred it if Becchio had started, leaving Kamara to be an impact sub, as he looked less effective, and didn't seem to have the fitness for a full game, he was knackered after an hour. I haven't slated Norwich too much this season, but things had really better improve next season! We were really lucky Southampton seemed to have left their shooting boots at home, because despite their dominance (and I think it's fair to say they did dominate large periods), I can't remember Bunn having to make a genuinely decent save. We were so, so poor! Without Wes in the middle we had no creativity, and whilst the conditions probably favoured a style based more on crosses and long balls, we failed to work decent positions pretty much all game. Again like the Newcastle game, we had some very good chances to win it, not least the penalty, but Snodgrass should have been on the scoresheet before then. But a win really would have been mightily unfair on Southampton, who played very well in the middle of the park, if not in the final third. I don't know how our squad this season seems to thin on quality. Howson has been dire, Pilks underperformed greatly, Tettey has been poor since Christmas and Hoolahan isn't playing as well centrally, and looks lost out wide, to name but a few. Those on the fringes though don't seem to have had a chance, the Luton game reminds of a game against Plymouth, just replace Lappin's name with Fox and Surman. Coming into this season I thought our midfield looked full of talent, and now it seems to be the area requiring the most work. Still, trying to find positives, it's yet another clean sheet (but 10 men behind the ball at all times is pretty conducive to that), it's a point closer to survival, and Sunderland looked poor again. And now I'm stuck.
I can understand you guys criticising your performance today or your recent results and performances etc, but I'm surprised to see anyone talking about going down. You're nine points clear!!! One win, and a draw or two, and that's you in the PL next season. If you could avoid defeat in your next two games, that would be much appreciated!
Seems like you guys have gone a bit overboard with the criticism here... disgrace to the history of NCFC? Are you not on level points with 10th place Fulham? Had the pen gone in, you'd be 10th with a handful of games left... Reality check needed I think. Every team has their good runs and bad runs, just stick it out!
A lot of you guys are being very disrespectful to Saints! We have no God given right to win, we have to earn it! Give some credit to the opposition!
OK, it's middle of the night here in Vietnam and let me go to bed and react more calmly in the morning.
Well said. Southampton played well. A defeat or draw isn't always down to a team playing badly it can always be down to the opposition playing well. 17 shots suggests they did.
Yes the statement is a little over the top, but feck me, it's ****e football. There is an element of shame, other teams are beginning to say Norwich are the worst footballing side, (it is a bit like stoke, done very well, but watching it week in week out is akin to performing one or indeed all of the trials of Hercules). We are becoming the next Stoke: hoofeckingray. We can look compact, organised , but please, please just a few moments of flair in a match would be lovely, surely that is not too much to ask
OK, let me say I think you have been very good this season and are unlucky to be in a relegation scrap at the moment. I think you'll survive and you deserve to.
Feeling a little disappointed Holt didn't score the penalty to give us 3pts, but that would have been very harsh on Southampton who were miles the better team. I understand peoples concerns with our performance (or the lack of it) I am too, most of it is not pretty to watch. But I think if we survive this season, we'll improve next season with new signings. On a positive, Bunn has certainly improve, had a great game. Think I will feel a little sorry for him when Ruddy is fit again.
Saints were one of the best teams to come to Old Trafford this season, out played us in the second half and we were lucky to win. They are no pushovers.
Can't believe th negativity on this thread. I get that some of the pink in forum first went to a Norwich match when we were on th verge of promotion two years ago. I forgive that crowd for not understanding th significance of this season against the background of th last 20 years. We hav a more experienced core here tho, so I'm surprised by th short memories.
I fear we are turning into stoke Hard to beat at home but devoid of creativity going forward I know it's raw right now, but we are boring as hell right now
