Not until the sending off. Utd were in control of the game and RM didn't look like making a breakthrough. Utd were making more chances.
Looks like we're never destined to agree eh Dave?

I don't hate Man Utd and always support the British clubs in Europe, always have. Not hypercritical at all imo.

All the English sides are out (Arsenal 90 mins away). What do you reckon Col, a one off or a sympton of what's to come?

I think Utd are good enough to hold their own and City should be. Chelsea have the players too. RM were nothing special till they had the extra man imo.

Terrible decision it wasn't even a yellow. But United lost more because Fergusen went so overboard about it, it rubbed off on the players. Managerial c*ck up, he should have kept calm and his players may have too, and scraped through. They were unlucky with the Vidic header going post out, and Modric's shot post in too.

He didnt make a sub while Modric changed the game, then he left it to late to bring on Rooney and then Valencia.

Hes just deflecting blame away from himself. Nothing has ever been his fault or his players fault in his mind. Its always the officials. The twin could have been sent of and RM given a penalty for handball earlier and not a thing was said about it. Thats given in europe too even if its accidental, I saw one given this week with a player who had his back to the ball.

From that GIF it's more of red card everytime I see it. Foot is nowhere near the ball.

I'm working all hours at the mo. I've been videoing that analysis bit he does Monday Night on Sky every week. Gary Neville always has an insight and can communicate it. The pundits job is to point out stuff I (coz I was never a pro footballer) missed and he does it again and again. Roy Keane? What, as they say evers.

    Thanks Pirate..

Looking at that challenge, its always going to be a red card regardless of intent...esp in Champions League. No one can possibly doubt that surely.

PS..you do realise you are all arguing about a game you watched on television & did not attend right?.....Just saying !! <laugh>

Col. I'm pretty sure you werent liking Man utd when Derry got sent off, or when they systematically dismantled us at home the other week. But if you say you were then i believe you !

As for supporting British Clubs in Europe, thats your perogative. Just seems funny to boo a team 1 week then cheer them not 2 weeks later. Not for me thanks but if it makes you happy, then good luck to you. <ok>

PS..just out of curiosity, do you mind if I ask why? genuine question.

The sending off was a joke. That turkish ref ****ted in his pants. Yes. he rised his leg but it was never intentional. Arbeloa came from the "dead corner" and practically throw himself to that situation.A yellow card yes but never a red one. It spoiled the whole match. Real was about 20 min on top in that match and with that turkish present it was enough.

You always seem to be looking for an argument mate....bit strange.
Anyway, I didn't like Ashley Young when he got Derry sent off, but I liked the ref less. I didn't boo them at home and actually admired the football they played. I did boo the ref who gave them everything. I know I'm in the minority on here, but I've always admired the way Utd play the game, just as I did the great Liverpool
Why do I support British clubs in Europe? It's a no brainer for me....I'd rather see a British team win....simples. Comes down to patriotism I suppose. I enjoy watching teams like Barca and Real, but if they're playing a British team I want them to lose.
Also, I found the "if it makes you happy" comment just a tad condescending.

Sorry pirate, but that's tosh mate. His momentum carries him through and bends his leg against the player. It was never a red card. Nani didn't see the player coming. so there was no intent. Accidental dangerous play which should have been a yellow, similar to when a player tries an over-head kick and catches a player by mistake. Joke decision which ruined an enthralling game imo.
Real were going out till that decision gave them the tie.

It is a little amusing that some are calling it karma for Derry's red card over 12 months ago. How can Nani being sent off in a Champins League game against a Spanish side be karma for Ashley Young taking a dive in a Premier League game against the Rs? Does anyone think Derry leapt to his feet off the sofa last night, punched the air and shouted "Yesssssss!" and thought that somehow hidden forces were at work to re-balance the footballing dimension? Or do you think he just reached for another slice of pepperoni?
