I'd like to believe I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong so here it is. I've not jumped on the 'we love Brendan' bandwagon and I've criticised him when we've been poor.

That said, he really does seem to have got it together and made the right decisions. Apart from the Zenit game with some questionable subs, he's got every decision spot on.

I personally think, apart from Allen, his signings have been good and he looks like he really knows what he wants. There's still a long way to go but, these last handful of games have raised the standards and the horizon doesn't look so bleak anymore!

Also wanna apologies to Gerrez for the other week, hope you accept my public apology mate!

Just had a **** spell at work and brought it home with so my error mate...I won't be doing that again believe me :)
 
Yeah you're probably right ha ha. Some great results though and like I say, that game yesterday was without Sturridge the tormentor! Feel we have enough to get a result next weekend against Spurs!

I think we'll get tonked <laugh> Don't see our defence handling Bale very well, plus we are open to a counter-attack which Spurs specialise in.

We should go with a midfield of Henderson, Gerrard & Lucas for this one IMO.

Get Henderson to track Bale wherever he is. If he's on the left wing he can help out Johnson or if he's playing in the hole Lucas & Henderson can help each other to stop him. Playing Allen in this game would be a poor choice IMO because of his lack of mobility.

Bar Swansea, we've not beaten a team above us never mind one going for Champions League / second place!

totally agree on the trio Lacaaas mentioned, plus Johnson did well last time out against Bale <ok>

Agree with you there mate.
 
I honestly don't think there is a "we love Brendan" bandwagon. I just think there is a "give the fella a chance" bandwagon. He's made mistakes and some of them basic ones so I can't honestly say he's going to take us forward from here on in. However he's made enough good decisions so far for him to at least get the benefit of the doubt.

His summer signings have contributed sod all but his January ones look better so he deserves some criticism and some praise.

Whether or not we've gone forward or just not gone backwards can be judged at the end of the season. However, looking at the distance we are away from the top he still has a massive job on his hands. Part of that job is to develop his system and the players within it but equally important (at least in the short term) is that he shows a little bit more flexibility tactically.

Agree with Lucaaas about Hendo as well. Really should start against Spurs as we will need some chasing around doing. Money on Dempsey or Siggy getting the winner??? <whistle>

I pretty much agree with all of that <ok>

The bit in bald: I think this is down to the European Championships and Olympics. BR didn't have the time to assess the squad properly and proceeded to bring in players he knew well thinking they would help implement his ideas. However, what he has since found out is that the squad level was better than he anticipated and his summer signings only have the ability to be squad players at our beloved club. Having had August to the end of December with the players, his January signings were exactly what the squad needed <ok>
 
don't agree but then thats fair enough its all opinion <ok>

borini, allen, sahin, assaidi... his summer was a disaster and has led to the 7th place right now. he's got clean sheets v lesser sides but the issue is we only beat swansea reserves out of the top 10 so 4-0 v a wigan side looking as per relegation fodder (unitl they decide to actually play) cannot suddenly make rodgers the messiah.

its not a handful of games though <ok> its swansea reserves and wigan... and a zenit side with a 2-0 lead who scored i nthe first minutes and knew they were through.... west brom and zenit away were disasters that all but ended our season. the whole thing is up on the clouds, down in the dumps swings and roundabouts so i am not going to be thinking these very valuable 6 points herald anything yet.

Nobody is suggesting that, like Billy said lets just give the guy a chance. He seems to understand the club, he is a young manager who is going to make mistakes but he does seem like someone who will learn from them.

There have been good and bad points of his term so far that is a fact. Lets see where this goes for now.
 
Oh bring on the Spuds. That high backline of theirs is just begging to our style attack and Stevie's 40 yard wing balls
 
Typically, we appear to have had a good game when I couldn't watch.:(

So can't comment on if he got it spot on or not.

I think Rodgers will be a good manager one day but is a little soft on his players and naive at times. He is learning on the job with us. Scary times to be someones guinea pig.

He has made better purchases than recent predecessors in general. Borini is really his only major flop. Allen has shown he can cut it... just seems to have deteriorated after a good start. He will get better.

Rafa would have led us to top four with this squad... but Rafa would have brought some unknown striker from the Seychelles for big money instead of Sturridge and kept playing Shelvey until he turned into Lucas.
