Lenny, In fifty years of watching Salop that is the second worst decision I have ever seen (I am sure I do not have to tell you the first other than it stopped us getting promoted). That should not only be rescinded but the ref should be stood down for a couple of weeks while he considers the error of his ways. I thought Doncaster were the best side I have seen in this division this year and I am not saying we would have beaten them but we could well have got a draw. The lads did reasonably well in the circumstances to stay in the game and I was pleased for Eaves who (despite his poor first touch) has a lot going for him. Richards for me for MOTM - he tried hard to rally his men especially from the centre midfield.
Even worse than signing Kris Bright??? I really enjoyed many parts of that game and they all worked their blue and amber socks off to play with a man down and I will agree that Richards deserves it purely for the amount of distance he covered in tackling, tracking and creating efforts for the team.
I agree we deserved a point. Some of the stuff was neat and tidy, and the incredible work-ethic was, well, incredible. I think any one of Eaves, Richards, Jacobson or Weale could easily have been my MotM, with Gayle right up there until his overplaying lead to their second goal.
It seems to be forgotten that Gayle was partly responsible for the first goal as well. He just stood and watched as the player shot when he should have been closed down. I have a nasty feeling that our appeal will not be successful. The FA will always back the referee in these cases unless your name is Kompany/Man City. A special rule for the rich as history tells us.
As I am winning the Betting League (at the moment), I think it is only fair that I give everyone else a chance on t'other.
I would not agree that we deserved a point as Doncaster made many more chances than we did. I thought their passing was really slick and they had a couple of outstanding midfielders (especially Cotterill). I would agree about Gayle who looks more confident going forward but is increasingly getting caught out in defence and does not stop enough crosses.
