Not tempting providence, but we are going up this year. i wonder if we could predict which game clinches it. It could be just five games away. Could it be Minxy's Peterborough, Malky's previous Watford, Dave Jones Wednesday, Barnsley (we had real buutter), or Peter Whittingham's old team Nottingham Forest?

I voted Charlton but hope it's a few games earlier if only to spare Sparkeys bog rolls. <laugh>
 
The last time that Cardiff City hit the first division was Swanson 1959/60. I was reading today that Bill Shankley played for us as a guest, and we were well clear of Liverpool in third place. Goal averages were in, not goal difference. Omen...Bristol City relegated that season, let me check where they are this...oh!

I went Forest too... be nice to do it at home with a few games to go... can relax and enjoy the end of season without the last 10 min nerves like yesterday. Still keeping feet firmly grounded though. Could yet all go tits up :D
 
If we maintain an 11 point gap (with our game in hand) then it'll be the Charlton game. If any of the 2 chasing slip up then probably Forest. For me though the key game will obviously be the Watford one. That could well be the game that decides it.
 
you wont last 5 minutes, one season wonders and certain whipping boys. you have to have money in the premiership and not £100 million debt going into it....you dont have many if any players for a start who are good enough and it will cost millions to get any and the league wont let you buy any if you are in that much debt next season.....tall order and could well ruin the red birds if you do come up.....

We'll be presented with the League Trophy at the Forest game on 13th April, either before, if we have the points, or at the end of the game when we've beaten them.
It's my lucky number 13!!!
 
I think Charlton will be the day the mathmatics say we're going up. For that to be the case it'll be basically certain for the couple of games before that.

Dai, the same was said about you and Norwich. QPR had the millions to spend, so your theory is flawed to say the least. If you haven't realised the gap between the 2 leagues is as small as it's ever been you really are as thick as your posts make you sound. We haven't got a chance of promotion this season anyway because of the PL quality that came down. Just remind me when Wolves, Bolton and Blackburn are planning their promotion parties.........

Dai! Maybe to a simpleton like you, all debt is the same. However, director's loans have a slightly different connotation......VT is owed a lot of money and will lose it should the club go tits up. But that will also be the same for a previous owner's debt, whcih is currently subject to (re)negotiation. VT will not convert his debt to equity and improve that owner's postiion. However, he is on record as saying that a debt/equity swap will take place.
Also, I recall that a quite a bit of that debt was to increase the ground size, which will help significantly with wiping out operating losses.
Whenn that takes place, you will see CCFC with debts still (all clubs have them)....but CCFC have assets to balance them. You might notice that some clubs do own their grounds and not play on a council pitch.
Of course, there is another way of clearing the debts......Swansea have done it twice.....and at least once they had bought their way to the First division with it.
So go back in your mortgaged caravan and think on that.
