During some facebook banter about the mickey mouse cup and friend of a friend from back home started getting mouthy about leeds and hows its a f*** disgrace (his words) the top club in the league are only taking 400 to elland road. As this guy was acting the big lad I want to put him right. Is what he is saying true and if so why? Are the police restricting the number of travelling fans? Can anyone answer this question?

In Spain the number of traveling fans is always low anyway (in the hundreds) So the snippy remarks about people not filling the allocation has always confused me a bit. Though I understand traveling is a massive part of British culture in football, but I'm not really sure why the insults when few turn up?

Yeah loads boycotted due to travel restrictions and pricing of tickets by Leeds.

Ask your friend if they are such a big club how come their crowds have dropped dramatically.

Its the Bates factor and their own fans have been priced out.

He sounds like a Leeds plastic if he doesnt know why our support was so low. Tell him its the same reason why Leeds fans are staying away in their thousands.

Hilts it wasn't my friend, although he follows leeds, it was his friend who got mouthy and mentioned the figure of 400 travelling fans calling it a f**king disgrace. I wanted to go back and put him straight hence my question. I thought that maybe to OB in leeds had put a restriction on the number of away fans but your explaination makes sense, especially about the travel restrictions.
TBH I don't give a toss, as long as we come back with 3 points to take as onwards and upwards I will be a happy bunny.

Our programme says 446 to be precise. Like others on here I say the 3 points is of more importance.

If a so called Leeds fan is getting his knickers in a twist so what. I would be concentrating more on the crap his team are playing, lack of finance and another year in the Championship.

The reason that such a small following went to Leeds was due to the constraints being placed on us, Leeds and the west yorkshire police wanted a 12.30 k.o and us getting vouchers at a service station, CCFC complained and managed to get a 3pm k.o. but getting your ticket / voucher from an allocated place. The damage was done though as many fans boycotted due to being treated like ****, not to mention the £36 for a ticket <grr> <grr>

The next week we went to Huddersfield (west yorkshire) no restictions and sold out our allocation........

Chico that was my exact reply to the comment 'leeds have a history that Cardiff can only dream of' from the gobby leeda 'fan'.
