Thrashed. Beaten out of sight. They were all over us all game, never let up. Andy Reid better than (at the) away game. How can we turn in a performance like this just after beating Leicester?

That's because you weren't at the 'Udders Cup game which was even worse. By the way the BBC gives us one shot on target- did anyone see it, because I didn't. We were dominated in midfield right from the kick-off. Horrible to watch.

Hamer 5 - made one dreadful mistake which proved costly. He needs to learn to stop spilling the ball when he makes a routing save, he does it all the time and for the first time its cost us a goal. He did make a number of great saves towards the end.

Solly 5 - very little influence on the game but was at fault for their first goal. First time I've seen a below-average performance from him in two years though.

Cort 6.5 - was pretty solid throughout. His quick-turn/skill at the end was one of the only highlights of the game from an Addicks point of view.

Morrison 6 - fairly solid but made one or two errors of judgement.

Wiggins 7 - the only player who I'd say had an above average performance. Seemed really keen and fit after so long out. Got forward well too, which he hadn't been doing this season prior to his injury.

Dervite 4 - Not his fault I know, its what you have to expect when you have a CB playing in midfield...every time the team would start to string some slow, controlled passes together, Dervite would spoil it all by hoofing it 30 yards to the opposition goalkeeper/defence. Seems to want to 'clear' the ball whenever its passed to him.

Pritchard 6 - very hard to give a rating to. He was none stop running all game and really dug in, made some great challenges but it seemed every time he won the ball, an opposition player would grab it straight back from him. Thus his rating reflects his commitment and effort a lot more than his actual influence or performance.

Stephens 2 - possibly the worst individual performance I've ever seen from a player prior to him being substituted. EVERY single time he got the ball he would pass it to the opposition or fall over his own feet. The worst case being when Wiggins was unmarked and completely on his own on the left side of the opposition box, only one player between himself and Stephens, and guess who the latter opts to pass it to...

Jackson 6 - really dug in all game and put in a good effort. The ball always seemed to land on his right though, so often there was little he could do of any impact.

Wagstaff 6 - never stopped running and was starting to worry the Forest defence, but his knack of running around in circles once he actually gets the ball meant little happened.

Kermorgant 5.5 - I'm probably his biggest fan so I'm gutted about him being sent off. From what I saw it didn't seem a red-card offence, but I'll have to watch it on FLS later, and CP seems to think it was. He was doing pretty well before the dismissal too, but sadly seemed to just get frustrated with having to chase every hoofed ball all over the final third.

    ---

Fuller 5 - one neat nut-meg, one good through ball to Haynes. Other than that, poor headers every time the ball came his way and one ridiculous moment where he stood 3 yards offside for about a minute asking for the ball. Seemed to be the only one in the ground who didnt realise he was off.

Haynes 5.5 - his pace caused problems, but never really got the chance to make the most of it. Failed to control the ball on a number of occasions and was getting very frustrated.

We were crap against a very good forest team, Andy Reid, I was in awe of his ability, even stood up and clapped him off when he was subbed, brilliant player, brilliant guy, class act.

Erm, we were poor simple as, Hamer I don't think was that bad, he had a wobbly period for like 5 minutes where he spilled for the ball and the cross he should have claimed hit the post. Defence was poor but was still the best part of our team.
Stephens, one of my favourite players had a true nightmare, was appalling, he tried but just nothing came off for him at all.
Jacko was crap, Pritchard was crap, Waggy was crap, but none of them played as poorly as Stephens or Dervite.
Dervite was total and utter Sh!te, he couldn't pass, control or head, least stephens came off, how Dervite played all 90 minutes no idea.
Kermit, I like him favourite player along with Stephens, looked like a nothing situation to me, I thought he was trying to get the ball, was badly timed but how Halford reacted was unacceptable and all the forest players running in, Kermit turned and went to continue, why the ref went around everywhere was pointless and it was the reaction of forest players that got him sent off IMO, was in the north stand though so was quite a way away.

Haynes and Fuller, both some bright sparks but still crap, but EVERYONE was crap

Powell, we praised his subs on tuesday night, why did he wait until the 90th minute when it was clearly lost to chuck on Obina? Waste of time, if he sent him on earlier might have done something, I'd rather lose 4-2 pushing for something than 2-0 playing crap like we did and not throwing even the toilet seat at them, let alone the kitchen sink.

Forest better team we were that poor I wasn't even angry, move along, it's a blip but COYR

Having watched the Kermo incident it was a yellow card at worst. Considering what he had been put through with what would be considered high tackles in Rugby union (also made on Waggy) I was surprised that the ref hadn't stopped some of these earlier. Yes it was a frustrated kick out at Halford but he was so badly injured he got up and came storming at Kermorgant. Ref failed to control that situation and then massively overreacted even askinghis lino who was further away than he was for an opinion. He followed it by not penalising any of their further challenges for the next forty minutes of play.

Yes we werent playing very well at the time, but that is how we start particularly with heavyweight teams like Nottingham Spinney (Not big enough to be a forest - have you seen what is left of Sherwood). Once the players get the measure of them they can then develop tactics to address the weight issue. However going down to 10 men denied us the opportunity to use skill against brawn and we continued to be cack. Lets get to fifty points and breath a sigh of releif if we can.

We should also nominate Halford for an award in Los Angeles tonight.

Just been reading The Doctor's post-match comments. He has seen Kermit's red card again and says it was the right decision so that will do for me. He also makes the point that although we were second best at the time, with 11 men they could have tweaked things at half time and addressed the problems. Fair enough point but we didn't have a midfielder on the bench, despite having 3 strikers and midfield was where our problems were. I seriously think we could do worse than bring Andy Hughes into consideration, he is the only player we have who is a defensive mid by trade, he may be getting on a bit but I bet he still has a good football brain. And Danny Hollands anyone?
Button has to be given his chance now. Even before the goal Hamer looked hesitant, at one point trying to blame Cort, who got very angry, and you don't like him when he gets angry. The fans seemed to be cheering sarcastically when he didn't fumble the ball which tells you something.

Things must be bad,Andy Hughes? Is that the Andy Hughes who has been out all season and has had one friendly game?He didn't play all of that friendly.Hollands has a foot injury and I saw him last week walking on crutches. So that would rather rule him out.

My team for the Burnley game.

    Button
    Solly,Cort,Morrison,Wiggins,
    Wilson,Jackson,Stephens,Waggy
    Haynes,Fuller

    Subs Hamer,Evina,Taylor,Green,Pritchard,Obika,Dervite

Have to agree with you with regard to Andy Hughes.

I do think Hamer should be given the opportunity to learn from that mistake and should be allowed to continue to the number 1 keeper. If he fails to learn and continues to spill the ball in the way he did yesterday (and on many occasions when it hasn't cost us) then give Button the shirt.

On the 3 occasions I've seen Button he's played very well, and I think he'll be given the gloves soon. Even Mancini said yesterday that if Joe Hart keeps making mistakes he'll go on the bench.
I know the idea of playing Andy Hughes might be ridiculous but honestly looking at yesterday's midfield performance who else have we got? You couldn't pitch Bradley Jordan in to that scenario!

I agree Hamer should be given some more time, thing is his mistakes seem to come in twos, hull and not forest, i bet he'd be solid rest of the season, I could see in the warm up (being a keepr myself always pay close attention) that he was spilling simple shots from Ben Roberts, probably felt nervous in the matchm like if a boxer is knocked down in sparing before a big fight in the actual fight he gets nervous, he just needs someone putan arm round him nd get him some confidence back, fans cheering every time he held it wouldn't have helped.

Nice to see CAFC Ted has calmed down from your initial post match rant. Agree dropping Hamer now would do more harm than good for his confidence & so the teams well being. Would like to see what Button has to offer however, but not a knee jerk reaction to a poor performance, when overall he has been one of our best players this season.

Hamer's biggest mistake was to have a go at Cort for hacking the ball clear when it was Hamer's hesitancy which forced Cort to do so. Cort was rightly livid.
