View attachment 21705 vs fter Tuesday nights great win away to Leicester City we return to action this weekend when we face Nottingham Forest. Nottingham Forest also won on Tuesday night and came from behind to beat Huddersfield Town 6-1 with Majewski grabbing a hattrick. When we met Forest earlier in the season I seem to remember us being completely outclassed by Forest and we could of quite easily lost by 4 or 5. This was also our first loss of the season. I know it's a longshot but if we start holding on to leads will can definately push for the playoffs. Although Nottingham Forest won 6-1 on Tuesday night their form of late hasn't been to good and the 6-1 thrashing of Huddersfield was their first win in six. So both teams have come off the back of a bad run of results with an extremely good win on tuesday night so I reckon a draw is the most likely outcome.
On the basis that our wins and losses seem to come in batches I feel quite optimistic about this one, especially since Haynes is fit, touch wood. It will be interesting to see who replaces BWP on the bench, Smith is knocking loudest on the door. And if Kerkar is ahead of Harriott I won't be a happy bunny(unless of course he comes on and scores the winner a la Haynes). Who will he drop out of Stephens, Pritchard and Waggy I wonder?
I am not a fan of the "never change a winning team" mantra, but in this case I cannot see any reason to change the starting line-up unless any players took knocks on Tuesday. Devite's tackling in midfield kept us in the game long enough for Haynes to come on and do his party trick. Normally I would choose Wilson over Pritchard every time, but apparently Pritchard had his best game for us on Tuesday so it would be unfair to omit him. We can perhaps afford to dispense with Wilson's superior defensive capability with five in midfield, even though it sounded as Solly was really stretched against Leicester without Wilson's help.
He's in then - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21547772 - does this change your lineup at all, Belv? The Good Doctor's use of the word 'losing' to describe BWP's departure is interesting, shouldn't he have said 'given away'?
We're going to win this tomorrow. My guess would be a very tight game with us shading it 2-1. And one thing's for certain - we're gonna play a Hell of a lot better than we did at the City Ground.
Have some rubbish memories of playing forest, so not in the most optimistic of moods. If I remember right the last time we played them at the valley billy Davies had just taken over and took all 3 points. Sadly going to say 2-1 forest
Will be a last minute decision from me as to whether to go. Not feeling great and sitting in the cold may be foolhardy. Attractive game on paper although whether it will be attractive on our pitch is another issue. Can't predict it. Would have thought we'd lose but thought we'd lose heavily on Tuesday so I've given up predicting. .
Stay in the warm and watch the egg chuckers Bob, it's not worth risking your health mate Score today? Charlton 3 Cardiff 1 and in the other game Charlton 2 Tree Huggers 1
First and foremost, take care of yourself. There'll be other games and in way better conditions than today. Just started snowing in Tewkes...
Cheers guys. I'm taking the advice and giving it a miss. Just taken the dog round the block and it is absolutely perishing out there. I think two hours sitting still in that temperature would finish me off so ill just have to make do with following the match thread.Have fun folks but do wrap up snuggly warm.
Afternoon all I'm not confident about today, Forest will be buzzing after beating Huddersfield 6-1 and our home form is poor. 1-2 Forest, Andy Reid to score for them.
Evening lads... im counting the minutes till kickoff, watching Rangers v Berwick in the meantime .... I think we will win tonight, remember the previous form of any given team doesnt count for much from game to game so im discounting Forests 6-1 effort. Absolutely pouring rain here at the moment, heavy as a well fed pig !
Charlton: Hamer, Solly, Wiggins, Morrison, Cort; Dervite, Pritchard, Stephens; Jackson (c), Wagstaff, Kermorgant Same as Tuesday. A touch defensive for home, but guess Haynes will be in at some point.
Subs: Button, Taylor, Evina, Wilson, Fuller, Obika, Haynes Obika straight on to the bench. 3 strikers available to mix things up, so I'm not sure we're really going to be too defensive.
Very wise. Wish I'd taken my own advice and stayed in - just got back from a bike ride and I think it'll take until the final whistle to thaw out. Interesting lineup and even more interesting bench...this may well be the strongest match day squad we've put out this season. COYR!
BBC Radio Nottingham has live commentary. Do any if you guys use CAFC player? I've heard a lot of criticism about it but have no first hand experience.
I use it every week. The quality of commentary is variable though, and often the other team's commentary (also available on CAFCPlayer) is better.
