http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21479193 I love Kev. I want him to stay at the club as long as he wants simply because he deserves respect from the club. Still, if we go up would Kev see any game time next year. I would be a bit worried about our squad if Kev was even first back up for a fullback position. Of course, I think MM isn't getting ahead of himself here. If we fail to get promoted Kev would be very important again next year. What do you guys see as Kev's future?
Kev is still a very valuable squad member. Very few wingers get passed him and one highly rated, Zaha, has never got any change from him. Its such a pity that his distribution lets him down. We have lost goals due to misplaced passes in defence and the number of times he gets into great positions down the wing only to put in a terrible final ball is more than I can count. Against that we all know he frequently puts himself on the line physically and takes all sorts of knocks for the team. However if we go up Prem teams will know his weakness and put him under pressure whenever he has the ball. Is this something we can risk?
Blue, being brutal, most of the team would change. This team is a stepping stone to achieve it's objective then will disperse. The first example of this I can think of is Gary Monk and Alan Tate at Swansea. Survival was the main aim, and they never got a look in.
I'd give him a year even if we were in the premiership. He may get little game time but can play across the back 4 and probably wouldn't be that expenssive in the greater scheme of things so would be good cover. At the least he'd have a couple of cup run outs.
Sentiment or reality? After his performance against Peterborough, I said if he ever played again for City it would be too soon. In hindsight, it was a harsh reaction to the disappointment of losing that game, BUT he was dreadful. He's had a couple of chances since and to be honest has been average. In the cup game against Macclesfield, I was glad that Coulson came on to replace him - he seemed so out of touch. All said and done, every player needs to play regularly to get the best out of them, and Kev's lack of game time this season has had a huge impact on his game. A good squad player is only any good if he can come on and do a job when required. I've got a feeling that Kev needs to play far more to get the best out of him, and moving on may be the only answer. Like the guy, but if we're building for the future, it may be in the interests of all concerned to part company. Footnote: - Having said that, I bet if Turner doesn't make the side today and Kev gets another shot at RB, I bet he'll have a bloody stormer!!
One of few players that could of gone elsewhere in the past but didnt because he loves the club. Yes it is right to say that he probably wouldnt feature much if we get promoted but i would be a little heartbroken for kev if we finally got promoted and we let him go. Offer him a 1 year rolling deal . Such is kevs tenacity i think he would be ok against the lesser teams as cover if we do go up this season. im hoping the club take one on the chin and make kev happy. Super kev!
