With Madrid, if he went there I'd expect him to displace Ozil or a departed (not in a dead way) Ronaldo. He has more goals in him than Ozil does and as we all know he has far more pace. Barcelona can't handle players who run at them, just look at Walcott for starters, Madrid will trump Barcelona in that area of the pitch if they acquire a player with the strength and pace that Bale has. I think that's a big factor when Madrid sign a player.

I'd like to think United would have the funds but I don't see Fergie going for him if we did. I was surprised more than anybody that we went head to head with City for RVP as Fergie usually distances himself from bidding wars, he backed out of the Moura deal as soon as PSG started talking. If I'm totally honest, I reckon he would come to United if Fergie was 10 years younger - he'd get the best out of him but he hasn't got the years left in him, he should play for a good, nay, world class coach with credibility so he should categorically NOT join City!

I think he should stay with Spurs for at least another year (allow Ronnie's contract to expire so he can come home) and who knows, Villas Boas could end up delivering the goods - something's got to change when the sugar daddy credit cards mean nothing anymore, surely.

  3. I see that PESKIE is up to his old tricks. It's sad what bitter envy can do to rival fans.

As for Bale, he is steadily proving himself to be a game-changer type of player, like Messi, Ronaldo, and RVP. It would be extremely odd if there wasn't intense speculation about whether he'll stay at Spurs. It doesn't annoy me, because I'm glad that (a) we've got a player of his sheer class, and (b) that we are still able to nurture and build such great creative midfield players. We are, after all, the team that gave the likes of Hoddle, Waddle, and Gasgoine their greatest platform to ply their trade.

I hope he proves himself to be a Hoddle and a Gasgoine, and be content to give his best years to us, and take his rightful place among the glitteratti of Spurs legends. If he goes to Barca, Madrid, or even United, he'll simply be another one of the mercenary galacticos who went in search of easy glory. What we have in our favour is the fact that we are the team that Cliff Jones, another Welshman, considered to have been the greatest winger in the world during his time with us, in the late 50s and throughout the 60s, gave his life and soul to. I remember listening to an interview with Cliff Jones, in which he said he had spoken many times with Bale, and that he had advised him to stay with us and become a Spurs great.

I believe strongly that we have it in us to become a regular top-4 club, and that we ought not to be coy about believing that we can challenge for the title, and we need to be looking at getting in and nurturing more players like Bale, not letting them leave. Certainly, I cannot see Levy willingly letting him go, at any cost, despite what bitter rivals, like PESKIE, might want to believe.

I bet PESKIE cries himself to sleep at night, knowing that we have, not only the best player in the EPL, but that he is one of the nicest, down-to-earth, stay-at-home blokes you could ever hope to meet.

I can't see him leaving, not in the Summer, and not for quite a few seasons, yet.

I wouldn't be taking advice from Ian Rush about moving abroad to play, remember this is the same player who returned to Liverpool after a year in Italy, citing that he couldn't settle as in his own words,
'it was like living in a foreign country' <laugh>

Bale is a Gooner <ok> I think Spurs should do the honourable thing and let him move to his boyhood club. I'm sure he would be happy to wear the mighty cannon on his chest and to give his all for his favourite club.

Theo Walcott reveals Tottenham star Gareth Bale is an Arsenal fan. The Tottenham winger supports Arsenal, according to Gunners and England Starlet Walcott.

Walcott revealed that the two good friends used to share a flat in Southampton while they were playing for the now League one team. Theo said 'We were room mates, we shared digs in Southampton. I've played with him since under 11s at Southampton, with him being an Arsenal fan, it's just a shame he didn't come to us!!, but we still get on really well'

We all make mistakes. Thankfully, he's made up for it since.

Must be hard to see Bale play knowing Wenger chose Walcott over him, paid more and is still paying Walcott more, whilst Bale develops beyond the level that Arsenal can sign :)

I think Theo would know a bit about Arsenal fan Bale having played with him since their under 11 days. But don't just take Theo's word for it. Arsenal fan Bale's Welsh compatriot at school Sam Warburton, now captain of the Welsh rugby team spoke about how Arsenal fan Bale used to wax lyrical about his favourite North London team.

Who knows, maybe Spurs will sell Arsenal fan Gareth Bale to us and help him realise his dream of playing for the club he loves ? <whistle>

He's obviously a professional, so he can't let the loyalties he has for the team he supports get in the way of doing his job. But a little bit of him must die inside having to pull on a spurs shirt when he lines up against the team he loves.

He might support Arsenal but he chose the flair club to suit his skills knowing that Spurs would be better than Arsenal.

Arsenal fan Gareth Bale is a quality player, there's no doubt about that. You're right, his performances are improving game by game and alerting the big clubs to how he could easily fit into their teams. As an Arsenal fan, his natural choice could be to play Champions League football with the club he loves . . .
