Only saw what was on Match of the day, but I've been saying for a while (not as long as StokieLad) that Whelan needs to go. N'Zonzi, Adam, Palacios and if we ever sign fullbacks Cameron and Wilson are all miles better, and even Whitehead is useful now and then. Shotton should go too. Wilko should stay though. We do need someone better, but he's worth keeping as backup.
I think for me if you look at the squad - we have the following that are Prem Worthy; (GK) Tommy & Begovic - 2 (Def) Huth & Shawx - 2 (Mid) Cameron, Nzonzi, Palcious, Wilson, Adam - 5 (Wing) Pennant & Ethrington - 2 (Strik) Crouch, Jerome, Jones - 3 Brek & Jamie Ness are an unknown quantity to date. That is fundementally a strong squad and when you look at it you could argue that the TP transfer kitty has been well spent. The problem is that Wilko, Shotton, Whitehead, Whelan, Walters & Kightly dilute it when they play, and our lack of natural full backs!
Yep I agree, but on past evidence (Wigan and Spurs) - i.e. prior to TP getting his negative hands on him he was a 15 million quid player.
Smither's I like the group you put down, now THAT is something like the 11 we SHOULD be playing on a regular basis. Brek? who know's he could be another Hoekstra spelling never could get his name right, great player he was. IF Brek is similar we have a good player.... except Clueliss will find another SLOT for him no doubts.
I would say that everyone on here would agree with the group of players that Smithers put down, its just a shame that the pratt in charge doesnt know his arse from his elbow.
I know this conversation has died but I think Whelan has been better than ever recently; still not good enough though. We should get rid of him before he breaks anyone's leg. We have an image to break free from
Yeah you're right. I mean he's played his best performances within the last few years, but particularly with N'zonzi. I thought he was pretty good against Southampton. I would like to see someone else in midfield instead but don't see him as a player that needs to be sold, but Stoke have plenty of midfielders.
