Now I know that Man City protested over ticket prices etc. when they went to Arsenal and rightly so at £62 a ticket (the same as we had to pay). For City away this season for us, upper tier tickets are £53 and lower tier are £51. And if that's not enough the cheapest train tickets return are about £80! That is over £130 already! Add food and drink etc. and you're up to potentially £150-£160. We are staying in a hotel on the Saturday night so in all, City away could cost about £190. This is ridiculous.

We haven't sold out Man City away yet. The upper tier is old out but not the lower tier. I'm going (lower tier... front row seats in the middle block... casual TV appearane ;) ) but it's easy to see why many have been put off. We will sell out all 2834 I'm sure but prices nowadays...

I agree Bucks--footballs not cheap these days! When I first saw Chelsea, I had a return ticket on the Underground (17 stops), entrance and a programme for a total of 2/3d--thats about 11p in todays money! Doing the away games we had coaches from the Bridge to wherever--and although I cant remember the exact pricing I'm sure it was never more than the equivalent of 60-70p, When we met Real Madrid in Athens in 1970 for the Cup Winners Cup final the package (Retun flight, 2 nights hotel accomodation, entrance ticket and programme) came to a total of £53, the same as your upper tier ticket at MC!!

I went with 5 mates. The stadium was all open air and tiered concrete seating (like the Coliseum) and held about 24,000. It was full, but I reckon us and Real Madrid only had about half the allocation between us! We had Michael Crawford sitting half a dozen rows in front of us on the plane! Leading 1-0(John Dempsey) when they popped one in with about a minute to go! The replay was 2 days later, but we had to fly home the next day! <doh>

Great effort. They never sell out theirs: citing prices.

They struggle to sell out their own ground.

I don't think cost is primarily the factor, there's a lot won't go until Benitez is gone or unless issues regarding the fans/club have been settled.

Full respect to the 3,000 odd making the trip. City away is probably my favourite away day out.

City pretty much always sell out, they don't have the fanbase of Man Utd but you can be sure that all 46,000 odd are real fans and will generate at atmosphere.

I'd rather have 20,000 empty seats with real fans in there than what the likes of Us, Arsenal and United have.

<laugh> Just about CP! Always remember a bloke with a red flag used to walk in front of it in those days!
